Answer:
I've got Ultegra 6800 11 speed drive-train and run a FSA K Force light 10 speed chainset - I've done this for about a year and a couple of thousand miles with no issues whatsoever. Shifting is nice and slick and you expect from ultegra, no signs of any compatibility problems at all.
Can't comment on Campag though, I'd say give it a try, worst case is you have to change the Chainset - but you may get away with it..

Answer:
As the 11-speed groupset you are upgrading to will require an 11-speed chain, shifting across the crankset chainrings will suffer in terms of accuracy and efficiency due to the difference in chainring tooth profile.

Ultimately it would be advised to convert the entire drivetrain to 11-speed (including the crankset) to gain the benefit of such an upgrade.

Sram Red conversions

I have a Focus Izalco, and I want to convert my current PF30 bottom bracket to a Praxis conversion system. I think as a result the current Sram red cranks will need to be changed. Which Sram Red cranks should I use with the Praxis conversion?

Thanks,

Colin

Answer:
For use with the Praxis system, you would need to use the GXP version of the SRAM RED cranks.

The cranks we have available at present can be found here - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...

Answer:
Ideally you should contact your local SRAM dealer and source a direct replacement for the ring. You may also be able to replace it with an aftermarket option such as the FSA below.

Answer:
The smaller chainring seems to be your concern.
If so, just don't worry about the compatibility.
You may use the sora set and just have only to replace the sora's smaller ring with your old 43t ring. If their BCD are different from each other, then buy another.
Compact sets' smaller chainrings are not sensitive in compatibility(the tooth range you are using).

Also, please check the availability of old Tiagra set. They are near same each other.

Answer:
Yes, this will work with fine.
You have only to replace the BB for fine chainline adjustment, if required.

Usually, Dahon uses loose ball open bearing for their BB especially low-end bikes. This BB isn't very good for waterproof and maintenance.

Answer:
A 10-speed crankset with a 9-speed groupset is not mechanically efficient when shifting across the chainrings; the chainrings would also eat into a 9-speed chain faster than with a 10-speed chain.

It would be advisable to use a 9-speed crankset for a smoother gear setup.

Answer:
No, the PressFit92 system is designed for 24mm spindle cranks, such as regular GXP and Hollowtech II. Raceface produce a bracket which will allow you to run a BB30 standard crank in a BB92 shell..

Answer:
This will be compatible.
But, you may need to do 2 things if feel the gear change isn't smooth enough.
1. lower down the front mech a bit by around 2mm~5mm (front derailleur)
2. accordingly, adjust the front mech cable tension. if you lower down the mech, then the tension will be higher so just you have only to lower down the tension by turning the tension adjuster of the trigger.

I could not find a 12-28 Shimano cassette to replace my 12-26 9 speed so I ordered a 10 speed +chain but now worry that the chain rings might be too wide for the narrow chaiin and also that the width of the cassette will be too wide for my Trek frame. Thanks.

Answers

Answer:
This will be no problem (if the chainline is set properly.)
Of course, 10 speed one will be a bit better though. This allows a bit easy setup.

Only this may cause some compatibility issues in some specific conditions.
1. too short chainstay
2. too big size difference between front chainrings.
3. not properly adjusted chainline

The chainring width isn't sensitive that much.
Actually, if you set up your bike in this configuration nicely, then this will be better considering the life span of the chainring. 9 speed chain ring is also made using same material and near same design but thicker so this will endure more.
The width difference is so called "safety margin" for some cases and also, this is a kind of marketing of the part manufacturers.(Group-set). Of course is you understand how bike works then you don't need to use all same group parts together.
