Technologies:

  • Aluminium Superlight: Extremely high tensile strength heat-treated 7005 aluminium alloy is developed for the highest requirements. It is very stiff, fatigue resistant, corrosion resistant and non-shearing. Cube's superlite tubes are double butted, giving very light tube-sets with a high level of stiffness.
  • One Piece Design: Welded joints in Cube's high-quality aluminium frames are specially finished via this method and create the impression of a seamless tube design. This generates the visual effect of moulding and ensures high load bearing capacity.
  • Integrated Cable Routing: Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.
  • Tapered Steerer: This steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and yields a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means the greatest possible steering precision. With the larger steerer, the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of Cube's carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.
  • Anodized Surface: Anodizing is a chemical surface treatment process. The treatment hardens the surface, making the aluminium 1000 times more scratch-resistant than before.

Answer:
Cube frame quality is of a very high level and older 2012 frames carry similar top quality characteristics as the newest range of 2013/2014 frames.

The overall build quality will have increased since 2012 in relation to newer component groups being released but a two year old groupset will still offer excellent performance.

For the best unbiased opinion; it would be advisable to research a few reviews on both bikes/frames to determine which will give you the best value for money.

Answer:
Our bikes are given a Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI) to ensure the brakes, gears etc are all set up correctly. All you should need to do upon receipt of the bike is fit pedals, adjust the seatpost/ saddle to suit your height, and straighten the handlebars/ stem.
