Rated 3 out of 5 by Superman Looks great, but does not hold tension as hoped
This is great looking and well designed, but after a ride the tensioner does go slightly loose which makes the chain slightly slacked and that makes way for the chain to pop off or to skip. Looks good and would be ok for a recreational rider, but if you take your biking serious, then I would not recommend this. Try different ratios until you find a ratio that you can go without the chain tensioner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Chain has never come off with this product
The 16 tooth sprocket supplied didn't work out with my chainstay length and 32 tooth front ring. I have just converted from an old 3-ring front crank - wish i just bought the shorter chainring bolts but instead i angle grinded the long ones back to fit and it was quite fiddly - but the DMR tensioner fitted straight on to the dropout where the deraillieur used to be, i used an old 18 tooth sprocket from an old cassette and the cassette spacers in place of several of the pretty coloured ones supplied with the DMR to get the right chain line. The chain seems to find it's own perfect tension with this, as after the first couple of rides i thought ohh it's slackenend off and i'd tighten up the bolt but the same would happen. It feels slacker than i thought would be perfect but rides great so i'm not fussed and don't think its a problem with the tensioner as such. Cheers

I have had this on my MTB converted to single speed for around 6 months.
The product is well made, but didn't fit as expected from the description.
I needed to file down the drop out piece to fit my frame, which was no big deal.
But the worst thing I didn't like was that the black piece you see in the picture needs to be inserted into your drop-out and if you continually remove your wheel (say for putting your bike into your car), then this hinders wheel removal and makes the whole process tiring.
Also the bolts would loosen and thus require over tightening sometime.
The sprocket teeth are too tall and cause chain pop.
Also the roller isn't wide enough for a BMX chain, so you must use a narrow 9 speed chain.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous WARNING!!!!
I bought this kit to convert my retro steel hardtail into a singlespeed comuter. I got the kit in White and I must say it's nicely finished.
I installed the spacers and sprocket first which was a doddle! Chainline was spot on first time. The sprocket however has very deep teeth, I think they will need filing down to work with my new 9spd chain as the chain doesn't engage as cleanly as I would like, it's a bit lumpy.
The tensioner itself was a huge dissapointment. It just plain wouldn't fit my frame which from the blurb didn't even cross my mind! I have vertical dropouts but all the bolt holes don't line up, no way no how. This doens't appear to be a common problem, but if you have an old hardtail I would find a device to measure up first. As it happens I am now left with a peice of kit that doesn't work! So you have been warned!
Plus delivery was shocking! CRC are normally lightning fast and I have always received my package the next working day. This time it took over a week. Bad omen perhaps!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous Not as good as I remember!
Had one of these on my commuter bike in London and it was brilliant. Got another one for an old Jamis Komodo to convert it from a geared bike. Had a good old hack on the trails tonight and the DMR chain stay came loose after about 5 minutes.
A solution is to put a bolt through axle on the bike BUT this doesn't acomodate that so it looks like i'll be tightening the damn thing every five minutes....
