Rated 5 out of 5 by Vital for Bladed Spokes If you are working with bladed spokes you need some form of spoke holder to prevent windup. This DT Swiss model holds the spoke over 70m, and allows you to grip it down to about 5mm from the nipple on a Sapim CX-Ray spoke. I actually received the brand new version with the red handle which can be seen on the DT Swiss website. 29 June 2013

I have DT RR21 wheels and the rear wheel is a combination of aerolite and aero comp spokes with the driven side using the thicker aero comp spokes. The red holder is suitable for blades from 0.8mm to 1mm i.e. the aerolites which are 0.9mm. The aero comps are 1.2mm thick blades. Does this require the black version?

The Aerocomp spokes require a specific AeroComp tool to true them correctly.

The Black 'New Aero Lite' (sku315327) tool can support spokes between 1.0-1.3mm which should be fine for your wheels.
