Endura Convert Softshell Jacket

With its zip-off detachable sleeves, the Convert Softshell quickly turns into a gilet – and back into a jacket, just like the tried and tested Convert Jacket. This high performance three layer jacket brings together a fast wicking textured polyester inner, a waterproof and highly breathable middle membrane and a beautifully supple polyamide microfiber outer to provide a combination of protection against the elements and a regulated body climate which is further enhanced by the ventilation available through the arm zips when part opened.

Race Cape Features:

  • Tactel 52%, Polyester 33%, PU 15%
  • Mig 3-Layer microfibre fabric with windproof/breathable membrane
  • Xtract stretch wicking fabric gilet sleeves
  • Zip off detachable sleeves allowing venting and conversion into gilet
  • Zipped chest pocket with media port
  • Reflective trims on sleeves and shoulders
  • Triple rear stash pockets - two of which are mesh
  • Rear zipped security pocket

Rated 5 out of 5 by 22 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by PERFECT OUTER WEAR Been out on three rides since getting this and must say I'm uber-impressed. First time out, it was 6 going down to 4 degrees, cloudy - so quite chilly. To test it out thoroughly, I wore only a summer (long-sleeve) base layer underneath and went straight into a 50K. Mainly flat, but some gradients which needed a bit of work. At no time did I feel cold, nor did I overheat. The Convert seems to trap the warmth inside, and providing your skin layer is correctly chosen, it's the perfect insulator against stiff winds. While I was aware on my arms that there was clearly a cold wind, it wasn't penetrating. Tailoring-wise, it's a nice cut, with arms that are perfect, a nice long back to keep your lower lumbar regions protected and a well-shaped collar that doesn't grab your Adam's apple. The front pocket is useful for a mobile phone (but not a phablet) and the three rear stow pockets are enough for your essentials. There's also a small zipper for a key or something small like that. The stitching and cut is excellent, and I'm certainly not disappointed. What drew me to this particular shell is the fact you can unzip the arms and make it into a gilet. I haven't used it sleeveless yet, but the arms remove in seconds and the jacket looks quite 'natural' when in this state. It'll certainly add versatility, extending the time you're able to use this garment and, thus, making it excellent value-for-money. So to the all-important sizing! I'm 11.5st (160lb/73kg), average build (5ft 10in/178cm) with a 38.5-40in (98-100cm) chest. The large was a perfect fit, allowing just enough room for getting a couple of layers underneath in deep winter if required... though it is best with just the one base layer. 03 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Be wary of sizing Just got this . I had to practically stop breathing to get it on . Im a 42 chest so thought large would be roomy enough. it isn't . Uncomfortably tight over chest and underarms . Have got to send it back for an extra large . The garment isn't very thick either so have my doubts it will be warm enough over just a base layer . Cant fault CRCs retrun service though . 20 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect !!! Hello. I've used this jacket(green one) whole autumn/winter and it's fantastic ! No promlems with -15 (+ Powerstretch layer). Great breathability. Usefull rear (4) and front (1) pockets. Very nice visibilty with intense colors. I'll buy another color for spring 2013 ! 05 March 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by a great windproof jacket I have had this for about 6 months; a great windproof jacket, I have felt no chill at all even at 0deg on descents on the bike; nice long sleeves and a slim fit better suited to road biking; have needed only a baselayer under this at most times; got caught in a heavy shower and it remained waterproof as well for 30 minutes; does start to smell quickly after a sweaty session. 15 January 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great jacket! Keeps the wind out, yet doesn't gather moisture inside. I like the cut, there are no bulky pockets or excess fabric in the stomach region, getting in your way as you pedal. The sleeves are a good lenth, a bit longer than usual. Works great not only on the bike but for winter running and cross country skiing, too. The middle back pocket is perfect for carrying a water bottle while cc-skiing. 04 March 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Куртка понравилась. 05 December 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight and practical I wanted a jacket that was suited for autumn and spring rides where you do not want to get too hot or cold. This jacket fits the bill neatly. The fabric is light and packs down well and on some testing rides the breathability is good. If it gets too hot the sleeves come off and and it feels and looks equally as good. It is well made and the colours are bright so you can bee seen on the road. Overall a good jacket and will get some use. 04 October 2011

Answer:
I have looked at some of the reviews on the Endura site and they say it stands up well in persistent showers, it will not be 100 waterproof but should keep you dry in light to medium showers.

If it is a heavy downpour stay inside, put the kettle on and do some mental training :)
