Answer:

An xD driver (freehub) is required to run a SRAM 11-speed Mountain Cassette. There are numerous complete factory built wheel options and also standalone hub options for an in-house wheel build.

For more advice, please supply the dropout measurements on your frame/fork and we can advise further.

Answer:

This hub has the XD cassette adaptor, I believe the hub needs to be made to suit the adaptor but I could be wrong. However it sounds like you want a whole wheel so the flow ex can be made with the xd hub in a custom build, or any other rim (like mavic etc) for that matter, I just want some 29er hope/flow ex goodness for the x01 I have instead of the easton's that are on it...

What wheels should I get as an upgrade from my basic OEM wheels

I like the idea of upgrading my basic OEM wheels on my Corratec Dolomiti (branded zzyzx race attack 3.0) but i have no idea what to get. I know i need a Shimano hub and will get a new 105 10 speed cassette. i like the 25mm conti tyres on the current wheels but want something that will roll faster. any suggestions

Answer:

Take a look at the Michelin pro-race 3 tires in red. They have a special on them right now. I purchased a set recently. They are a tough tire. Great rolling resistance, great look!

For some reason after mounting them I seem to have picked up one to two mph hour.

Strangely, they appear to hold air better between rides for some reason. Tight fit but with patience can be mounted by hand,without tools . The special Chain Reaction has right now includes two free Michelin Tubes.

Answer:

The 26" wheels will physically fit into the frame however be aware that the frames geometry has been optimized for the 27.5" wheels and will perform best when used with these wheels.

If 26" wheels are required; it would be worth while considering the previous seasons 26" Mega TR.

The short answer is no, This has been asked before and answered by CRC staff... "Unfortunately the Custom Wheel Build Option is not available in the website at the minute and to have one created you will need to call our Sales or Technical Team to set the order up."

So if you want a custom wheel build find the hub, rim, spokes etc. that you want, then get in contact via phone or email to CRC customer services and they should be able to help you out with your wheel build.

I too wanted to upgrade my rear wheel, my bike also has 10mm x 135mm rear, the Mavic Deemax Ultimate offers a 12mm x 135mm option which comes with adapters to fit a 10mm rear drop out, I have brought this wheel and am using it in this way with the adapters, Its strong, light and looks great, if you really want to spend the money on the best wheel...

MTB rear wheel

I need a new rear wheel for my wife's old 26" mtb. It's old enough that it still uses calliper brakes, and I don't want to spend too much or I'll double the value of the entire bike! What do you recommend? It runs a 9speed shimano cassette. Thanks.

Due to the variation in flange diameter and the rim ERD it is unlikely that the spokes when crossed between wheelset's will tension up to the required level.
