Rated 1 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing. I purchased a set of these scales from CRC, and they were delivered with the usual alacrity. On opening the box I was disappointed with the apparent quality of the finish, and the generally cheap 'feel' of them. What do you expect for £40? I asked myself and set about weighing every bicycle part in my garage. Stems, bolts, seatposts, handlebars, you name it I weighed it and I was surprised by some of the indicated weights. So surprised that I decided to weigh some things from the kitchen. A tin of beans, which according to Heinz should weigh 415g, weighs 325g on these and yes they were level and all feet were on the worktop. A 1lb (16oz) counter weight only weighs 11oz on these scales! Maybe the batteries are flat I thought, so I fitted new ones and tried again. Still the same result, so I returned them to our friends at CRC and got a refund. I believe that reviews are intended to share this kind of information, and I really don't enjoy 'dissing' another persons work, but the truth can be unkind. The upside to all this is that we now know how certain manufacturers arrive at the stated weights for some bike parts. 13 October 2009
