Fulcrum Racing 3 Road Wheelset

  • Differentiated rim heights – 24mm at front for optimal maneuverability; 30mm at rear for optimal power transfer.
  • Oversized hub body in aluminium, painted white, gives strong lateral stiffness while reducing weight.
  • Fulcrum 2:1 spoke ratio on rear wheel, double the number of spokes on the drive side for greater wheel stability and improved power transfer in the rear wheel. 16 straight pull aero spokes on front wheel, 21 on rear.
  • Fulcrum Dynamic Balance keeps the Racing 3 wheels perfectly stable but is achieved in the rim milling process rather than spokes in the Racing 5.
  • Milled rim to reduce the peripheral weight of the rim, increasing reactivity.
  • Weights: Front 670g, Rear 885g

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by failed after less than 200 miles My first Fulcrum/Campag product ever and the freehub on mine failed after less than 200 miles. In tens of thousands of Shimano miles I've never had a freehub go like this. So, nice light, stiff and responsive wheels but not much use if they let you down. Wondering if I've made a big mistake. 27 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great wheels On my madone 5.2, i have used the original bontrager race wheels, and mavic ksyrium elites... i wanted some new wheels, so went for the Fulcrum Racing 3's. I've read some good and bad reviews of these wheels, maybe some iffy "friday afternoon" wheels slipped through the net???, but after almost 200 miles, my Fulcrum Racing 3's have been brilliant. These wheels are fast rolling, look and sound good, brake well, climb well, so far-so good with durability (other wheels have needed attention after a hundred miles or so...), have a good balance between harshness and responsiveness whilst retaining excellent cornering ability (with conti gp 4000s), and are excellent value. Really happy with these wheels. Next time i'm in the market for a new pair of wheels, i'll be buying Fulcrum's... (from crc of course)... 16 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by great wheels but ........ Great wheels however the rear wheel developed some side to side wobble which required hub attention (had become loose and needed tightening up). This was fairly easy once I had visited Fulcrum's help/guidance section but is not what you expect of wheels costing c.£400. Disappointing. 17 March 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Pretty wheels let down by poor quality manufacturing and Fulcrum customer service Nice wheels well packaged. Look just the job. Took rear wheel out of the box and spun it in my hand to get a feel for the bearings, freehub, balance, etc. Surprised to hear a metallic sound from within the rim. It took me a long time to isolate where the sound was coming from and work it steadily down towards the valve hole. I finally managed to extract a 30mm long piece of aluminium swarf out of the valve hole. Otherwise it would have been rattling around within the rim. Worse, I used the Fulcrum website to send a comment to highlight the issue and give them the chance to amend their quality inspection and machining processes. Tried the same again a couple of weeks later. No response, no acknowledgement, no apology, nothing from them. That strikes me as really poor customer service for a £400 wheelset. No reflection on Wiggle or other resellers - just poor quality manufacturing from an incommunicative Italian company. I suggest you look elsewhere for your next wheels brand. 15 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A good set of wheels I've only been out on two rides with these wheels on so far. The ratchet is not as noisy as the unit that it replaces which is good. It is much lighter but about as stiff. I do note that there is a hollow sounding hum when riding, nothing too extreme. So whilst lighter than my previous wheels they feel stiffer and a tad more responsive. I would say that they provide a similar level of performance to my old Mavics and definitely much much better than the R500's I had on my "work" bike. Given they are lighter than most carbons I was looking at I am on the whole very happy with the purchase. 08 January 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great value wheels I bought these wheels for everyday training on the road. They were an upgrade from the OE wheels on my Trek Madone. The wheels are very light, stiff and roll very nicely, making a nice little 'hum' on the road. They don't use rim tape (a nice feature, since I've had punctures before from spoke penetrations cutting the tube through the rim tape.). Nice quality materials used to make these wheels and a great price with awesome free delivery in a few days to Australia. 08 May 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by These wheels are great i bought this last june to do a 200k sportive and they worked a dream ive nothing to compare them with cause i replaced my stock wheels which i got with my giant tcr, if your looking for a decent set of training wheels which last and stay true these are them. 28 March 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Wheels very smooth and responsive I have the 2012 version, and they shipped from CRC to Canada super fast - great service. The wheels are super responsive, smooth, and light. I went from OE wheels that came with my bike to these, and it felt like a had bought a new bike. My ride was much smoother, ride quality was great, and these wheels respond when you push them. The hubs are great and roll forever. I am getting my wife a set of fulcrum wheels after buying these last year. 24 March 2013

Answer:
Fulcrum do not list a max rider weight, however it would be safe to assume that the performance would be lowered and frequency of maintenance would be required for riders over 90kg.

Answer:
According to the Fulcrum Website the weight limit of their wheels is 109 kg/240 lbs.
Furthermore if your weight is greater than 82 kg/180 lbs Fulcrum recommend that
you have your wheels inspected more often than someone weighing less than
82 kg/180 lbs.
