Garmin Edge 500 Bundle

Sharpen your cycling performance with Edge 500, a lightweight GPS-based cycling computer for performance-driven cyclists. Loaded with data, Edge 500 tracks your distance, speed, location and elevation with high sensitivity GPS. Add an ANT ™ compatible heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor or compatible power meter for a finely-tuned analysis of your ride.

Jumpstart Your Training: The Edge 500 attaches easily to the stem or handlebars of your bike with its low-profile bike mount. The Edge attaches easily to the mount with a simple quarter-turn. When you're ready to ride, just power on your Edge, acquire GPS satellites and go. Edge 500 features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix™ satellite prediction to calculate your position faster.

Get the Data You Need: During your ride, Edge 500 measures your speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, and records this data for your review. For extra-precise climb and descent data, Edge 500 also incorporates a barometric altimeter to pinpoint changes in elevation.

All Edge 500 versions work with third-party ANT -enabled power meters to display your power output in watts as you ride. This valuable data shows you how hard you're working, regardless of conditions affecting your ride, so you can train smarter. Some versions also ship with a digital heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor.

Other helpful training features include a Courses feature, which helps you compare successive rides over the same route, as well as Auto Pause, Auto Lap and temperature readings. Edge also alerts you if you’re moving but the timer is not running.

Track Your Heart Rate: When paired with a Garmin heart rate monitor, Edge 500 tracks heart beats per minute and uses your heart rate for advanced calorie computation, so you know how many calories you're burning. Train in a certain heart-rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance over the same ride.

Analyze Your Ride: Once your ride’s done, connect Edge 500 to your computer with the included USB cable to analyze your performance. With a simple click, you can join a worldwide network of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts through Garmin Connect™, a one-stop site for data analysis and sharing.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Does what it says on the tin - watch the update interval though! I've found the Edge 500 to be a very good basic GPS+HRM bike computer. The GPS side of things is very useful for sure, but I had to set the update interval to every second as I was missing portions of my run and failing to match Strava segments as a result. The ability to choose the fields seen on the device is very useful, but I couldn't prevent it cycling through all the pages when more than one page was set up. I had no issues pairing with my HRM or any of my ANT+ sensors, and the location of satellites was always fast enough. The Cadence sensor tends to power off quite quickly, meaning the auto pause feature gets triggered a lot more often than needed. 08 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good product. Easy to use. Intuitive. No real need for a manual. Reliable - Never lost a GPS signal. It can take up to a minute to lock onto GPS but once locked it will not lose signal, no matter what the weather Displays a phenomenal amount of data. Great battery life. Has an auto power down function which is handy in case it gets turned on by accident in your gear bag etc Works brilliantly well with Strava Cadence sensor + HRM very beneficial too. Make sure the magnet for cadence sensor is correctly aligned. If it isn't the Garmin will just continually autopause and not record data. But it is very easy to correctly align the magnet and there is a little button on the cadence meter that'll let you see if the meter picks up the magnet correctly. Can be bought for cheaper on other sites but the superb customer service of CRC means I didn't mind paying a little extra for guaranteed quick delivery. 10 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by funciona perfectamente perfecto para hacer entrenamientos mas efectivos y así puedes mejorar gracias a todas las funciones del garmin, desde frecuencia cardíaca hasta cadencia media. 13 August 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Overrated Product with Inconsistent GPS. Not particulary intuitive. Lacks fails safes (ie you think you stopped the timer , hit reset and it wipes your record). Have had to change this 4 times with Garmin. Terrible after sales service 30 May 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Over-rated product. Had to be returned to Garmin no less than 4 times. GPS till behaves erratically to such an extent that you can't entirely relay on the stats it records. Great reputation but simply not warranted. Terrible after sales service too. 24 May 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Mountain biking must have - Worth every penny I use this for mountain biking only, in Rotorua Whakarewarewa forest (done about 900km so far, currently 100k's per week of forest riding). With reception for up to 16 satellites I never loose a tracking position even in full forest. The unit is probably capable of storing 1000 completed rides. Battery lasts forever, I guess you would get at least 18hours of riding. USB charging/data cable all in one. You can even load your rides onto google earth! Screen is easy to read and has great back light for night riding. They supplied two bike mounts. Which are very easy to use. Click on/off bike very easy and solid can't imagine it falling off. Multiple bike setups, records separate km totals for each bike. The user selectable screen setup is fantastic! Works excellently with Strava.com. I'm constantly wanting to beat other peoples rides. You can see what position/rank you are for each different track. Position accuracy ~25 meters in solid trees, and ~5 meters in big clearings. Can miss one or two Strava segments (tracks) in a ride (of ~12 segments), but all types GPS units will have this position issue with trees blocking some signals. For mountain biking it works best with position recording set to 1 second. This provides accurate distance results. The heart rate monitor allows for better training. I now ride slower for training (80% of rides) which allows me to ride more km's a week building up more endurance and strength for racing. Wish I had a heart rate monitor years ago. Over 19 years, have used cateye's and a android phone. This is far superior. 02 February 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome product Probsbly one of the best products i have bought, fairly easy to set up, great tool for training and works well with the Strava app... 21 July 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product - Almost perfect The Garmin 500 is a great product.... was quite easy to set up and can accurately measure pretty much everything you would ever be likely to want to know ( and lots you wouldn't! ) The wireless heart monitor is surprisingly comfortable ( you forget its on) and the wireless cadence is very easy to fit and adjust. its the first time I have measured ( or cared) about heart rate and cadence....and on a ride, I was quite surprised once I saw the actual numbers for each ... and how I felt / performed by adjusting riding around them. I think I will gain a benefit in performance over time from working with these factors. The only minor niggles are that it would be handy to select the bike you are using with a few less clicks... you have to go through quite a few .... I'm sure that most people who buy one of these serious gadgets would be using on more than one bike! The second niggle is that with 5 / 6 fields on the menu screen, some are quite small and not all that easy to read.... which is a shame when the unit has a quite large screen. It could make better use of the available space But all in all a great piece of kit. I had been hovering over the 'buy' button for a few months. But am now glad that I did! 11 June 2012

The only notable difference between the two bundles is that the 'Red' bundle has a Premium Heart Rate Strap; however the 'Blue' bundle comes with the ordinary (non-premium) strap.
