Garmin Forerunner 610 Special Edition & HRM

Stand out from the rest of the pack with the new special edition Forerunner 210 and Forerunner 610 GPS-enabled running watches. These watches combine the same features and capabilities as the existing Forerunner 210 and 610 with vibrant colour schemes that will brighten your winter training.
The Forerunner 610 is our advanced, touchscreen GPS watch. It features vibration alerts, a new Virtual RacerTM feature that turns any workout into a virtual matchup and advanced heart rate training. Forerunner 610 also allows users to customize heart rate zones and alerts, and will guide runners through detailed workouts and training plans.

Features:

  • Touchscreen: With a touch, tap or swipe, Forerunner® 610 lets you get on with your run while it tracks all the gritty details. Tap or swipe to advance pages; swipe and scroll to adjust settings. And it’s not just a pretty face. Stands up to rain, sweat and the occasional drink station dousing, yet sensitive enough to operate with running gloves.
  • Virtual Partner®: See how you measure up to a static pace you set.
  • Virtual Racer™: Race your previous bests or an activity from another user. Accounts for varying speeds and real-time conditions.
  • Training Effect: Measures the impact of an activity on your aerobic fitness, to help you train smarter, not harder. Calculated based on user profile, heart rate and difficulty of activity.
  • Vibration Alerts: Set alerts for time, distance, calories, heart rate, run/walk breaks and cadence.
  • Navigate Back To Start: Guides you back to the starting point of your run, giving you the freedom to run new routes and always find your way back.
  • Wireless Uploads: Automatically transfers data to your computer when in range. Analyze your run later at Garmin Connect™.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Garmin 610 & HRM - Great for a small wrist and frame. My main reason for selecting this watch was the size and profile of the watch. The 620 would have been even smaller , but I chose the 610 over the 620 because I needed it for triathlon training and the 620 does not yet have bike software (Mar 2014). The 405/410/910 are not suitable for a small wrist because the length of the face on the wrist means the edge rubs on the wrist bones. The watch itself works very well, but it you want to switch between run and bike quickly - you can't change the 'sport' mode until you go to Garmin Connect. The same issue is compounded if you train indoors on a turbo without a satelite and then go out for a run immediately. Another reason for choosing the 610 was the HRM strap which is the Premium Soft HRM Strap - again - a must for a small frame. The HRM became faulty after 3 weeks - but CRC sent a replacement straight away. Unfortunately, they sent the early version of the strap - the only one in stock - so I am waiting for a replacement in the premium. CRC Service is fantastic - no issues there. In Summary: If size is more important than function, go for the 620. If you are a small triathlete and need bike and run - go for the 610. See DC Rainmaker for really useful in-depth review. Roll on recognition of female triathletes as a consumer group - maybe then we will get tragetted products that fit! 07 April 2014

Answer:
The Garmin stock we have is a British specification, so it is only supplied with an AC charger for the UK. You will need to get an adapter for Australian sockets.

The Garmin is though supplied with a USB cable which charges as well, a USB adapter may be less cumbersome.
