Rated 3 out of 5 by phillipka Great camera, but unreliable and buggy
I purchased this camera based on lots of research, but most of all because it is the only action camera to use ANT+ technology, which makes me able to pair the camera with my Garmin bicycle computers.
Have been using the camera now for almost two weeks, and I must admit I have mixed feelings. Functionwse: Very good. That is, when it works. However, it has not functioned flawlessly, and I hope a future firmware or two can fix that. Here are my gripes so far:
1. Camera stops recording, screen freezes while the indicator light still flashes red, indicating that it is still recording (which it isn´t). This has happened to me twice, and I came home with incomplete recordings. Had to do the ride three times in order to get one full recording, from beginning to end. What if I came home after a vacation and could´t go back to re-record?) This is a major flaw, and if it is not fixed in a firmware, I would say it is unacceptable.
2. Viewfinder sometimes go black when you turn the camera on. Have to restart camera again and enter viewfinder mode in menu to make it work. Sometimes this has to be done twice.
3. USB charger cable didn´t fit the camera. Have to charge it by using the USB charger cable for my Garmin Edge computer.
4. Garmin Edit map overlay does not export. I should have guessed that (based on Google rights and licenses), but I feel there should have been a mention of that on Garmin web site. Had to dig in the forums to find the explanation for this.
Other than that, the camera fits the bill. It seems to be well built and feels rugged. I like the format, even though it does´t fit my chest harness. Am not sure if the shoulder harness will be just as useful for skiing or mountain biking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by craggybend Its quite chunky!
Having been knocked off my bike, and having had a number of near misses, enough was enough! I have spent the last two months going through every blog, forum and article before deciding to go for the Virb. Having only had it a few days I think I can say with some confidence that I have not been disappointed with my choice. Its easy to set up, its easy to use. The user interface is very intuitive. The picture quality is very good. Sound, not so sure about that one yet, the mike is on the underside of the body and it picks up every rattle, squeak, and click the bike makes, although this might be adjustable. It does not come with a fitting suitable for a vented helmet, will fit a motorbike helmet or BMX type helmet, I bought the extra handle bar fitting. It is quite big, I did not go for the Go Pro because of its size and shape, I suspect the Virb is bigger but it is a better shape. I am pleased with it.
