Nexus hub versus derailleur on TR5100

Have never had hub gears. What maintenance is required? What is the Gear range on the nexus? Does the hub gear system ride as smooth as a derailleur?

Answer:
As the hub is a sealed unit; it is less exposed to the elements and does not require maintenance as often as a derailleur based drivetrain; although at least an annual rebuilt would be required.

The gear range on this hub is 307% and due to the planetary gear layout inside the hub; shifting is smoother and can shift even when under full load.
