Gore Ride On Low Friction Gear Cable Set

For years, cyclists of all types have struggled with the problematic nature of friction within their cable systems, leading to sluggish, inexact or unpredictable performance. In answer to these challenges, RideOn® Bicycle Cable Systems were introduced to cycling at the 1993 Fat Tire Festival in Colorado, becoming the first high performance cable systems for cyclists. In 2003, Gore stopped selling cables commercially, but relentless requests from customers for RideOn® Bicycle Cables prompted Gore to look at the popular product line once again.

Equipped with a re-designed and re-engineered RideOn® cable featuring the latest Gore coating technology, Gore is unleashing the new and improved GORET RideOn® Cable Systems to the cycling world. The patented cable coating technology introduced with the new GORET RideOn® Cable Systems significantly lowers friction, producing quick, precise and predictable movements. Tested for friction and durability, the GORET RideOn® Cable Systems are available in two types for any type of riding. Whether it's a winding road or rocky trail, the GORET RideOn® Cable Systems were designed to battle the elements and win.

Low Friction System

  • Cable Housings
  • Crimp Caps
  • Ferrules
NOTE: Designed for a 'standard' cable routing, bikes with long sections or full length outer may require two sets to get enough outer cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Improves Shifting Can't recommend these highly enough. Expensive, but make a real difference to shifting performance - smooth and quick. 18 April 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not worth the money Ive used 2 sets of these cables. The bike they're on is nearly always ridden on dry roads. Cable routing is meticulous and has been the same for both Gore and original cables. These cables offer no advantage in shifting over normal campagnolo cables (I run 10s record). After 1 year I need to change them again. So yearly changes are required for smooth shifts. I will try regular campagnolo steel cables in the Gore housing but the original plastic/teflon coated cable went furry after 3000km. This "fur' on the coating is now (5000km) inside the housing and causing sticking in the shift. The shifting problems are related to the rear shifter. Primarily on the RD spring driven movement i.e. as you go up the gears or as the RD travels to the smaller sprockets. I have seen complete failure of the cables as a result of a fur ball sticking the cable in the housing. So I reckon these are not worth the money. 18 February 2011

Answer:
This kit will not perform to the same level as Ergo Levers due to Campagnolo cable nipple being slightly narrower. The fitting in the housing will not be as tight and may alter braking performance.
