Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous poorly designed
this is terribly designed. it is meant to attach to the quick release skewer, but you can't get enough pressure on it without snapping your skewer for it not to move. this means you constantly have to tighten it or else the chain sags. then when this happens, the overly wide rubber guide-wheel (what were they thinking?) allows for too much chain movement and guides the chain OFF the sprocket!! if for example you are riding standing up and rocking the bike side to side as you put the power in, then you will fly over the handlebars and break your arm. like i did. don't buy it. get one with a cog that you can adjust alignment. Did i mention there was no way to adjust chain line?

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Cheap, works fine
Used this to turn my GT Chucker into a singlespeed. I don't know if the rear mech bolt is particularly far from the axle on the Chucker, but it certainly seemed like I don't get the full range of adjustment from the tensioner. So long as I'm careful with chain length though, it all works fine. Slips a little bit after a few months riding, no major complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Good thing, but...
... as many guys said, not perfectly fit all frames. I run it on '10 Trek 8500 with single cog on a conventional multispeed cassette rear hub kit and it fits witn chain under it only. Roller is pointless very wide and chain travels freely side by side and goes off the cogs. I replaced roller and its axle from previous crappy STS kit, added few shims to position roller as i need and have no problems at all since then. 4 stars instead of three because i really dig quality and craftsmanship of this product after trying weak and rusted STS kit which forced me to grind part of it to fit my frame. And most important thing that Gusset SS contains axle nut - its way above STS in case of secure wheel mounting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Best id say so far..
CRC perfect delivery etc, item is better than expected the photo is poor and does not show the laser etched Gussett logo on the side, its also bullet proof - whilst
its cheaper than rivals its simpler so i guess that why its so good - after 2 tensioners that were poop i bought before giving up on single speed - it also accomodates my super strong YBN chain - its quiet enough and simple to fit and the power transfer to the drivetrain is awesome no flexing ive found - advice any tensioner with a piddly 11tooth jockey wheel ios rubbish and flexes like a standard rear mech - this is the dogs and im converted.!

a lot better than expected and the picture is not exact cause it actually says gusset on it, a problem i found is the roller was too wide and some of my teeth were bent so i replaced the roller with a jockey wheel and it was perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous fancy a change from DMR!
i thought i would give this a go as my dmr sts had issues with the nuts rounding off, only put this on my bike yesterday and i really like it, black and simple, one issue i did have was i found the roller to wide so it kept trying to jump gears but then i havnt got round to fitting mt single speed kit yet, simple solution, swap the roller for the red dmr version, bingo! all in all i like it, get one for that price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Keep it simple - and it works!
I've been using this with a hub gear and Ragley Mmmbop for about eight months now and I have to say I've been very pleased with it. I thought recently it was going wrong - the chain kept hopping off no matter how tight it was - but then I checked chain wear and it was at 0.75%, so slapped on a new chain and it works perfectly again. The simple design gets much less dirty than a toothed cog, and means you don't have to adjust spacing, which is great. It's light and strong, and best of all, the bearing seems to be sealed - after a headset and my bottom bracket both needed proper servicing, this thing still turns silently.
Can only run in the push-down position on my setup but this reduces chain wear as the chain does not have to flex so much (shown in lab tests to be the main cause of chain wear).
Only problem is the need to completely remove the quick release nut to get the wheel off - a bit of extra faff no-one needs! But worth it for the low price, long life and easy-peasy set up.
