Gusset Trident ISIS

Hardcore use ISIS BB that won’t let you down, rip your frame threads to pieces.

Triple Bearing:

The large diameter ISIS axles mean that there is limited space for the bearings to fit into the BB area, and so, relatively small bearings have to be used. This Trident unit uses 3 bearings (2 on the drive side) to reduce the load on each bearing and hence lengthen the bearing life.

Dip Centre:

Many frames have either tube ends, or a non machined centre to the BB shell. This can present a problem for some BB units that do not “Dip” in the middle area… as the BB can risk fouling the inner BB shell during installation, which can result in misalignment, and consequent cross threading of the frame BB threads. The Trident unit does have the required centre clearance for use with most frames without this problem*. (*However, extreme care should still be utilized when installing cartridge BBs – to completely avoid this common problem.)

Cr-Mo TAF cups:

ISIS BB cups have to be produced in a relatively thin wall thickness – to allow maximum space for bearings. Lightweight, thin alloy cups run the risk of cracking under hard use due to their lack of base material strength. Further, Aluminium is a relatively soft material, and therefore cups produced in Aluminium can be prone to the delicate threads breaking up on installation and extraction during servicing – especially if the frame threads are not 100% clean. This can result in major frame thread problems, as the broken alloy shards can bind further and can eventually cause the frame BB threads to become ripped out also. We specify Forged Cr-Mo cups – which are far stronger than their Alumimium equivalents – and yet have a similar weight. These TAF Cr-Mo cups with CNC machined threads are far less likely to crack from hard use, or allow their threads to break up during installation and extraction.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Durable and strong I've gone through a couple of BB's and this one surprises me. Still going strong after a lot of riding under heavy abuse (Trials/XC/AM on a Kona Hoss). The bearings are great and really worth the low price. 22 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Buy one!! I have had one for over a year and I ride my bike on average 20 miles a day (everyday), it has just started to show signs of use now and I have ridden in some harsh places with it. Overall great product, Highly recommend. 01 August 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Doesn't last. Very disappointed with this. A previous ISIS BB I had (truvativ gigapipe) lasted over a year of hard riding thanks to having 4 bearings. With this having three I was expecting good things but it's gone after a few months. I will mention that I do plenty of harsh technical trails, including small drops and jumps, quite a bit of it in bad weather, so I suppose if you're a fair weather gentle XCer you'll be fine. But after perhaps a dozen or so actual rides the single non driveside bearing has disintegrated leaving severe play in the crank and it's getting extremely gritty and grating. There's a saving grace in that it somehow isn't creaking and the driveside is still relatively stable so at least it'll last a little longer yet. But don't bother with this if you're at all rough on your cranks. 16 September 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not so much... I bought this after having gone through multiple different FSA bottom brackets, this was fine for about one month. It has developed a lot of play - if you pedal hard the cranks move from side to side, affecting gear-shifting. At least it lasted longer (5months) than the FSA ones. 25 May 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ronseal and cheap Does exactly what it says on the tin! Had 3 or 4 rides on it so far with no problems. Smooth and creamy! Long term update in the future - but for this price its a bargain so far 29 May 2009

Rated 5 out of 5 by Been thru a number of BB's (FSA Platinums, RaceFace signature, Kooka's for their quad bearings) all lasted about 5 months each with the kooka just disinigrating. Tried this and so far it outlasted my bike and is now in my new Kona. I only ride XC hardtail, but tend to be out of the saddle alot mashing away. So far it's stood up after 6 months continuous use. heavier than I would like, but price point is great and will buy another one when it finally packs up. 10 March 2008
