The Stroker Ace features Hayes' first four-piston, forged mono-bloc caliper and our biggest pads ever, giving the Ace tremendous heat management capabilities. We've also designed a longer lever for increased leverage at the bar. Mated to the proven Stroker master cylinder, this makes the Ace our most powerful brake ever, while advancing the already unmatched Stroker modulation. At a system weight of 427g (including 6" rotor and hardware - not included), the Ace trumps all the other gravity-oriented brakes in the deck.
Features:
• Master Cylinder: Radial, Symmetrical; Aluminium
• Caliper: Forged mono-bloc; Aluminium; Four-piston
• Colour: Frosty Silver
• Pad Material: Sintered metallic with Aluminium backing plate
• Lever Blade: Aluminium, XL with tool free reach adjust
• Fluid: Hayes high temperature, DOT4
• Weight: 440g (160mm rotor), 488g (180mm), 520g (203mm) Rotor not included
**PLEASE NOTE: Rotor and rotor hardware are NOT included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality brought this for the front of my Glory (to replace the Juicy 5 :( was so impressed as soon as i looked at it. As soon as i fitted it, as i live on a big hill I rode down a few times to bed in. By the fith time it was trying to throw me over the bars! Awesome. With one finger it has all the stopping power I need and more. I have only ridden with it two times, but the second was a wet muddy day, and it performed superbly, so I have now brought the rear to match. 26 June 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rear Hayes Ace have owned a rear of this model for about a year and a half now it has never let me know always good braking power and awesome lever feel ... would reccomend nukeproof endruo pads for sure but they are amazing stock !!!! 04 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent brakes Have had these on the bike for over a year now. No problems except when i stored the bike upside down for a couple of days had some fade the following few days but returned to normal on their own. Purchased bleed kit and still have not used. Have had Hayes disc brakes the last ten years and find they are "set and forget" usually going 2-3yrs no probs usually not even requiring bleeding, just pad change. Ride a mix of off road trails(usually technical single track DH but also lot of high speed fire trails)and on road commuting in all weather conditions. The sintered metallic pads are excellent in the wet functioning much the same as in the dry. The power is phenomenal, excellent modulation and no fade, run the 8 inch discs both ends. The adjustment dials are a lot better than the old small allen screw, although i find they stay in place so there is no need to use them, unlike the old adjusters that would need monthly adjustment. Pad change is tool free and relatively easy. They look excellent too not flashy, easy to see they are four piston calipers at a glance so for those of us who know they are an obviously powerful brake. Just remember to get some spacers to put in between pads when you transport the bike so there is no need to reset the calipers if the brake lever is squeezed, i find some good size coin(A$ 50c or 20c)will do. Overall excellent brakes. 03 November 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Ace is just great - been stopping with such for a full season now, and i like it more and more every day. Upgraded from an Elixir R on the front and a Juicy 5 2009 at the back, and at first wasn't impressed with how it stopped me - the Avids were more grabby, more... hmmm, let's say "furious" in stopping power. But they lacked the heat resistence of the Aces. Started thinking about trying Shimanos, but then tested the Hayeses on some pretty nasty and long downhill runs (understand more than 10km down the hill without stopping for a rest) - turned out all the brakes needed was some more bedding in, a serious one that is. :D Now the power is huge, modulation is superb, heat resistence - my biggest problem - is no more: i'm heavy and lack braking techniques, so brake a lot and hard, and, they just keep stopping and stopping. Sure Code, Saint, Tech V2 and The One are huge names in the downhill scene, but don't underestimate the Ace - just give it a chance and it will blow your mind! :) 25 August 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by These brakes are sick. Just upgraded from Stroker Trail to Ace. Breaking is no longer a problem. And with the 9" disc its just an overkill. 27 July 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome braking I can't rate these brakes highly enough. The power they have is phenominal. The design of the master cylinder does mean the lever sits quite far away from the handlebar but the reach is easily adjusted with the turn knob. My kit was initially delivered missing a brake disc and bleed kit, but CRC sent them out very promptly. Many thanks! 25 April 2010

Answer:
The stock hoses on the Hayes brakes are 5mm plastic hose. You could upgrade to the Goodridge hose and connection kit as linked below if you wish.
