The Stroker Trail improves on the Ryde in a number of ways, beginning with an indexed, tool-free reach-adjust dial that makes setup a snap. The caliper features an adjustable banjo for tight, snag-free hose routing, plus Hayes' signature tool-free pad removal. The Stroker Trail also boasts a greater hydraulic ratio than the Ryde, for enhanced stopping power and modulation. No wonder the Stroker Trail has already been ridden to numerous World Cup championships.

Rated 3 out of 5 by millshills starts off good but develops probs
had these breaks on my old stinky and my cube ,start off well with good hard breaking after breaking in,then levers start giving way 2 much movement lateral, then noticed after 6 months screws were rusting on lever then lever adjustment. then went 4 a ride and got total brake fade then nawt, had a good butch and realised they were leaking oil. unfortunate ,nope its happened on both bikes. replaced with formula oros and rx .

Rated 2 out of 5 by Peterparts Initial performance good, but unreliable in the long run
Review is for the carbon version..brakes came fitted on Marin rift zone, they worked well for about 12 mths , apart from the intermittent pad rubbing and squealing even after trying different makes and compounds of pads the problem came back...evenually I found the major issue was that the pistons where sticking due to what looked like corrosion , I replaced the pistons front once back twice over the next 12mths only for the same to happen again!!! I have now replaced them with the latest shimano XT models , a lot cheaper if you go on rrp's but I will be amazed if they turn out to be as bad as the Hayes .... Don't waste your money

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Great XC/AM brakes
Great brakes for everyday, XC/AM & heavy tourism use. Used them several times in the Caucasus mountains, where they shined so bright - top performing, non-fading, great-modulated. No signs of fading even after several km-braking on steep slopes.
One of the main advantages - the availability of braking pads. Every bike shop, including the town ones, do have them, and they are cheap. Extremely easy to change the pads - it takes seconds.
Great brakes from Hayes. Love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Not the prettiest. Can be messy to bleed.
But very quiet, very reliable, long lasting pads, and massive power!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Fantastic Brakes!
I have ridden on Stroker Trails now for over 2 1/2 years and I haven't stopped loving them! The pads last for years! (despite riding 2-3 times a week, rain or shine, in the grit of the peak district!!!) Power and modulation are spot on for me, the the reach adjustment is also a great feature.
The negatives, well the tool-less pad retention has caused me issues twice, if you are not careful, you can bend the retention pin on the cyclinder... Which means having to replace the entire cyclinder. Its such a pain that the second time round I just bought a new caliper!
Anyway, I can strongly recommend these, fit and forget simplicity!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous don't last well
When they're new these brakes work very well. However, it won't be long (after a year or so) before the callipers stop moving smoothly and your pads will be rubbing constantly. Unless you want to do a complete re-build every year, I would buy different brakes.
