I was wondering if there is a headset that I could use on my 2012 trek Marlin Gary Fisher to change from a 1 1/8 fork to a 1 1/8 by 1 1/2 tapered fork. I can't find any info on my bike to tell which headset I would need. If you could help it would be great. Thank you very much.

Answer:
You need to remove your headset assembly and measure the internal diameter of your frames headtube (top and bottom) to identify your headset standard. Alternatively, your local bike shop will be able to check/ confirm for you.

Answer:
I had the same problem and eventually found the ideal headset. Go for a Chris King.
More expensive, but basically fit and forget. Had mine on MTB for 8 months now and never missed a beat.

IF this frame has a semi intergrated headset as standard, which I think it has. and IF the I.D is 44mm. Then like I have recently done with a 2009 Norco, a Hope pick and mix top cup 2 and bottom cup H will perform this conversion.... I hope it works for you as it has me...

Headset for Giant XTC Composite 2013

I'm looking for a headset to use in my 2013 XTC 29er Composite frame - normally comes fitted with the OverDrive 2 steerer.

I want to put in a standard 1 1/5" to 1 1/8" steerer.

Any recommendations?

Answer:
As you have Overdrive 2 you must source the headset you require from a Giant dealer. Overdrive 2 is a Giant specific product. It is not possible to fit a standard headset into Overdrive 2.

Answer:
Not being a Whyte dealer I can't be certain, but going by the spec listed on their website, the '11 805 runs a semi-integrated headset (44mm diameter) so any of the sets linked below should be fine for a 1.1/8" steerer

Answer:
The lowest stack height headsets are the Integrated Standard; but not every frame is Integrated Headset compatible.

The best advice is to measure the internal diameter of the frames head tube (top and bottom) and contact our Technical Department with this information -

Answer:
For a 44mm upper and 52mm lower you can use the Cane Creek 10 and 40 series parts as linked below (IS52-30 for a straight 1.1/8" steerer; IS52-40 for a 1.5" tapered steerer fork).

Answer:
The best way to identify your headset requirement is to measure the internal diameter of your headtube. 34mm is conventional style, 41mm is Cane Creek Integrated, 41.8mm is Campagnolo Integrated, and 44mm is Semi-Integrated (also known as Zero-Stack).
