4:1 is an advanced ALL-IN-ONE training & recovery drink. It’s designed for use DURING and AFTER sport to maximize strength and fitness gains. It contains 4 parts carbohydrate (High5 EnergySource) to 1 part whey protein isolate. It’s light, refreshing and exceptionally easy on the stomach. Natural flavours with no colours, preservatives or artificial sweeteners.
A carb/protein combination has been shown to both reduce muscle damage during exercise and increase muscle synthesis post exercise. Less muscle damage and better recovery can result in stronger more resilient muscle, lower risk of injury and more rapid fitness gains from your training.
4:1 is particularly effective if you anticipate a big step-change in mileage, such as a training camp. It’s also fantastic for multi-day endurance racing, as the carbohydrate content is 2:1 fructose which provides exceptional energy and fluid delivery.
The whey protein isolate in 4:1 is the very highest quality. The Food & Agricultural Organisation have an internationally recognised method to compare the quality of various proteins. This is known as the Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS). An ideal protein will have a PDCAAS score of 1.0. The Protein used in 4:1 has a even higher score of 1.14. It’s also high in Leucine, an amino acid which triggers muscle growth and repair. 4:1 is lactose free.

Like the powder version, i really like this product. i use the bar version during rides and for a healthy snack instead of a chocolate bar or packet of chips.the cranberry flavour isn't as gross as you might think. easy to chew on hard rides and sits in the tummy well. high5 make awesome products.

I decided to try the 4:1 bars because I love the High5 4:1 drink and the bars don't disappoint. They taste really nice (can be too sweet when you are doing high intensity work but then I would take Gels instead anyway). I find them particularly helpful as a recovery bar so I know have a bar after every ride.
