High5 Energy Source Drum 1kg

EnergySource is a new generation sports drink for use during exercise. It contains a carbohydrate formulation of maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 2:1 and key electrolytes. Many of the world’s leading event organisers and Pro athletes choose award-winning EnergySource for success in the toughest endurance events.

Research suggests that you should consume a maximum of 60g carbohydrate per hour from traditional sports drinks. The recommended intake for new generation Energy Source with 2:1 fructose can be substantially higher, at up to 90 gram per hour. The ingredients in EnergySource help sustain performance during tough endurance events and help maintain hydration by enhancing the absorption of water.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Helped me to prepare well for the White Rose Challenge this year. Gave me good levels of energy and hydration in hot days ride 17 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value and light taste This product mixes well and has a light taste. I have GI issues when racing using gatorade or powerade so I had switched to GU brew to avoid this. I came across this product which was on promo and came with a box of 20 gels for less than $20 so thought I would give it a try. It has worked out and saved me some money compared to GU brew. The only thing I would like to see is more electrolytes (it only has 240mg sodium. No potassium, magnesium, ect.) They recommend adding zero tablets to the drink if you are racing in hot conditions to help with electrolyte replacement. 10 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easier than messing around with gels. I usually take a CamelBak with me on longer rides and a 500ml bottle of this in the cage of my frame, it's easier than messing around with gels or stopping to eat something. It also tastes pretty good and is a lot cheaper than buying individual gels. 11 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great energy source This is a great value product - much more economical than using sachets and gels. It tastes OK, and I feel the energy boost after using this energy source on a long ride, or long turbo session. 21 April 2014

Can this be mixed with 4:1 product?

As above, would this product mix well with the 4:1 product (same flavour) in order to reduce protein intake on shorter, low intensity rides?

Answer:
It is not recommended to mix these powders, as the 4:1 is essentially the standard drum but with the Whey Protein (so mixing them effectively doubles the amount of fructose). Rather than trying to mix them together, I would simply use a lesser amount of the 4:1 on shorter rides. High 5 have a few good nutrition guides on their site, and do discuss some combinations of product there - http://highfive.co.uk/high5-faster-...

Answer:
Of course it can be mixed, 4:1 itself consists of 2:1 drink powder with 20% added whey isolate, (''4:1''= ''80%:20%''=4 parts carbs : 1 part whey isolate protein). This way you can make your own ''5:1'' , ''6:1'' or ''whatever you like:1'' drink!!!
