Hope Conventional Headset

Our conventional headset is made to fit standard frames and 1 1/8" fork steerers. They include custom made stainless steel bearings (which are replaceable). The cups, taper ring and crown race (which is split for easy installation and removal) are all machined from 2014 T6 aluminium. All headsets come complete with the Hed Doctor. Sealing is achieved through an adjustable taper ring cover and integrated rubber seal. The bearings also incorporate their own sealing, and being made from stainless steel resist corrosion - a real advantage over a conventional steel bearing.

Hope Conventional Headset Specifications:

  • Rubber sealed cartridge type, stainless steel bearings and additional 'O' ring seals in the cups to ensure years of maintenance free running.
  • It's strong enough for downhill use, yet still light enough for cross-country.
  • Includes Hed Doctor to replace star washer.
  • Bearing Type: Sealed stainless steel cartridge type.
  • Cups: 2014 aluminium
  • Head size: 1 1/8"
  • Weight: 90g
  • Upper stack height: 17mm
  • Lower stack height: 14.1mm
  • Total stack height: 31.1mm

Rated 5 out of 5 by Just awesome Very beautifully made headset. Gorgeous colour options--I opted for the gun smoke. Easy to install. Head Doctor works like a charm ... and at a bit less than half the price of a Chris King, it's an awesome value. 11 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent piece of kit Good quality craftmanship easily fitted to my specialized looks great. I just like to say that my headset didn`t have the allen bolt for the head doctor so i emailed the crc guys and they sent out a complete head doctor kit (new) and a £10.00 voucher straight away. Excellent service good promt delivery service i`m well impressed and i will be using the company again for more bike parts. Thanks alot. A++++ service. 24 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hope always making quality products + English made Always loved Hope headsets, other than Chris King - they are one of my favourites. Just goes in and does the job without any hassle. This one also comes with a split race so even less hassle to fit. 03 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by solid great headset, well worth buying from hope to support uk industry however the quality and manufacturing are shown in the price 12 June 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great head set from Hope , easy to fit and really smooth ...all round great product 04 February 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Definitely not worth the money, spend a little more and get a real trouble free chris king headset. Bearing quality, sealing and anodization from far not up to task. Bearings failed before less than a year even though both frame and fork get their faces reamed before installation. I usually also put enough grease to keep the water and dirt out and pay attention at tightening the headset before it develops too much play. All this precaution didn't help. Head doctor is a nice feature and still using it. 03 January 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great and simple all i had to install it with was some bloks of wood (not recomended) but after 1year on a freerider its never faild me, bearings can be easaly replased if needed and u dont need 2 use the doctor if u dont like but if u do you can re-use the fork on anothere headset on anothere bike/ ore if youre fork fail u dont ned anything but to remove bootom spacer and doctor to instal a new. all in all i love it and will be bying more for my othere bikes. 11 September 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Been running these for many years. Just nothing out there better. All those King fan boy's just buy into the brand, fair enough but for half the price this is the best there is. 20 June 2012

Will this fit GT Agressor 2 2013

HI
I'm making some changes to me GT bike and am going to change my fork to a Suntour Epicon X2 LO-R and was also planning on changing the headset
The forks I know are threadless but I'm not sure about the headtube on my frame or the stock headset, only that it is 1 1/8
if this isn't compatible is there one you would recommend?

many thanks :)

Answer:
The first thing to do is identify your headset standard; remove any existing headset/ headset parts and measure the internal diameter of your headtube at the top and bottom openings:

34mm is Conventional so this Hope headset would be fine.

41mm is Integrated Cane Creek

41.8mm is Integrated Campagnolo

44mm is Semi-Integrated / Zero Stack

49mm is Oversize (1.5")

Answer:
The product spec for the Agressor's frame listed on VitalMTB says the head tube diameter is 1-1/8" (34mm), so this headset should fit.

Answer:
This headset will not be compatible with a 2011 Kona Dr Dew. The Dr Dew requires a semi-integrated headset.

Answer:
Not being a Santa Cruz dealer I am unable to confirm, but going by the spec list on their site (http://www.santacruzbikes.co.uk/Bro...) the Bronson runs a 44mm upper and 49mm lower, so this 34mm headset will not be suitable.

Answer:
This headset will fit any conventional headtube (34mm internal diameter), which I believe the 2003 Stiffee runs, so it should be ok. You can double check by simply removing your existing headset and measuring the internal diameter on your headtube.

Answer:
Not being a Scott dealer I have no way to confirm for you but the FSA No.9 headset was an integrated design (where the bearings sit directly into the headtube). If you can remove the existing headset and measure the internal diameter of it (top and bottom), or have your local bike shop check it for you.

34mm - Conventional EC34
41mm - Integrated Cane Creek 41mm
41.8mm - Integrated Campagnolo 42mm
