Hope Hed Doctor Headset Adjuster

Tired of re-tightening your headset? So are we. To combat this common problem we have produced an engineered solution. Two aluminium wedges simply pull together and expand inside any 1.1/8 steerer giving you a solid thread to pull the stem down. Sounds simple? It is. This is topped off with a laser engraved, anodised aluminium cap and aluminium bolt.

NOTE, Before use take apart and grease all if the internal threads and surfaces that have to slide against one another (NOT the surface that will touch the inside of the steerer!), failure to do this will make it feel tight before it is. This makes it tempting to tighten even more, this is a light weight alloy bolt, it will snap if over tightened. Grease threads and surfaces and it will be fine.

Hope Hed Doctor Headset Adjuster Specifications:

  • Expandable to 26.6mm
  • To fit 1.1/8 steerer tubes
  • Laser etched top cap
  • Weight: 29g

Rated 4 out of 5 by Отличная штука Хороший якорь, только очень сложно вставить ее на место, т.к. резиновое колечко все время заедается. 20 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quality kit Maybe a bit over the top considering the other options are cheaper, but does its job perfectly and looks the part. 18 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good product After reading comments about this item I wasn't sure it would be a good choice, I read lots of people having problems fitting it. When I received the head doctor I tested to see if it would fit in my steerer tube and it seemed like it would not fit or would need to be hammered in, so I took the head doctor to pieces and loosened it and noticed you can squeeze it together by hand and it will then fit my headtube. A really good product in my opinion. 18 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth a Purchase Bought this as the easy alternative to setting a star nut with new forks. Well made, feels quality and is very easy to fit and adjust. I was worried that it might come lose too easily, they have so far proved unfounded over a few hundred miles of hills and jumps. 23 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hope Technology, lives up to the name Still waiting to find a hope product that I find even slightly hard to use / not very good. Perfect replacement for a terrible starnut. 22 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by jolie produit hope Piece parfaite pour ajuster fourche potence cadre. Jolie travail de finition de hope et le système de serrage à était bien étudier pour ne plus bouger du tout dans l'axe de la fourche pour permettre une bonne compression entre chaque composant et du jeu de direction. 25 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very well engineered Nice solution for a headset adjuster particularly if you are setting up fork with an alloy or carbon steerer. Very light too with bespoke alloy adjuster bolt included. I used this on a Kinesis Carbon CX fork (just fitted the ID of the alloy steerer tube). 07 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product, my Pike steerer didn't like the o-ring though Simple and easy to use, and avoids the hassle of hammering starnuts in and worrying about whether they are concentric. The only downside was that I found the o-ring outer diameter to be slightly to large for my rockshox pike forks. It still went in and clamps correctly but the o-ring was damaged in the process. 11 April 2014

incompatibility issues with rockshox forks?

There seems to be a number of people mentioning that they are having issues with this and rockshox forks. Is this a known manufacturers issue or is this a simple case of people not necessarily installing it correctly?

Answer:
There are no compatibility issues, I have used this product with a number of RS models with no problems, the issue will most certainly be down to user error,

Answer:
I always read up on products before buying and I too read about people having problems when fitting the Hope head doctor. I purchased one together some Rockshox Pike forks and it looked to me like the head doctor would not fit as was too big!, it turned out to be brilliant.
I realised that if you take the head doctor to pieces or just loosen it, the centre piece with the black rubber ring on can be squeezed together and then you will be able to see that it will then fit into your steerer tube, if is still too tight to fit remove the black rubber ring (I had to do this and it's perfectly ok to do this) - insert it about 10mm into the steerer tube and tighten up with a hex key(do this fairly tight but obviously not so tight you bust it) - then with your stem bolts loosened tighten the top cap/bolt(do not over tighten this bolt as you could snap it) - then tighten your stem bolts up. That's it, it really is that easy.
Also it won't hurt to put a light coat of grease on the head doctor/bolts.
