Hope Tech 3 E4 Disc Brake

We have kept the key features of the Tech Evo master cylinder and worked to improve the ergonomics and integration on the handlebars.

The Tech 3 master cylinder can operate all the calipers from our range and offers a slight increase of power of about 5% over the Tech Evo.

Popular design features of Tech Evo remain the same, such as the reach and bite point control (BPC)adjustability. The piston is actuated by a cam and a roller system to eliminate any free play and initial friction.

The classic split clamp design makes the master cylinder easy to install on the handlebars without having to remove anything else.

Hope Tech 3 - Some riders have previously commented on the relative bulkiness of the Tech and Tech Evo master cylinders, sometimes making it hard to fit the master cylinder around already clogged up handlebars (shifters, fork and shock lockouts, telescopic seat post controls etc).

We have worked hard to make the new Tech 3 master cylinder easier to integrate on the bars although it does entail losing the ambidextrous design.

The Tech 3 master cylinder is now directly compatible with any Shimano I-Spec type shifter meaning no extra mount is required to attach the shifter to the master cylinder.

For those using SRAM shifters we have designed a slick and minimalistic direct mount adaptor.

E4 Caliper Features:

  • The one piece caliper is CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aircraft spec aluminium alloy.
  • The E4 caliper uses four identical 16mm phenolic pistons which gives more usable power to the brake, whilst keeping our ledgendary "feel".

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great performance and modulation Hope are my preferred choice of brake. I am always on the look out for the next best thing and i love performance and quality, I am not led by brands or price I simply look for what works the best and prefroms the best. I have used a huge range of brakes from Shimano, Avid, Formula and Magura either as factory fitted to a new bike or an upgrade to try something different and every single time these are replaced with Hopes. I do like Shimano XTR and XT but they are very much an On or Off brake where the hopes give alot more feel. I have now purchased my 3rd set of new Tech 3 to upgrade my bikes and i still run a bike with the tech 2. I prefer the look of the tech 3 now they have moved away from flip flop lever design which makes these sit alot better on the bars. I don't think i can feel the improved braking performance from 2 to 3 but they work extremely well, easy to set up and are a great price. I saw the purple which look awful (the wife likes them) the black are great but the CNC machining does make cleaning difficult. I always use the braided hose version, look good and in my mind i feel happier having braided hoses. Great brakes 14 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by state of the art brakes with flawless finish Have been using these for a few 100 kms now. They took a while to bed in, but were super easy to fit. Power is now superb and modulation compared to my old elixir 5s is another league. Get these if you want no fuss braking with very little maintenance required. I also have x2s which have 1000s of km and are only now needing new pads and a bleed. These 4-piston brakes are also lighter than the 2-piston brakes they replaced, sweet! 07 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Oozes class... Along with the many other hope parts bolted on my rig, these look amazing and perform like you'd expect from the wizards at Hopetech! Easy to adjust, bleed and fit. More than enough power to lock the wheels but with great feel through the levers you can have as much, or as little as you want. Highly recommend with the Hope Saw disc! 01 April 2014

They're fantastic from all angles. The only issue i have is, it would be nice to get discounted rotors when you buy a full brake system. 18 March 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by The perfect do-it-all brake! Using this brake for anything from light DH to AM, Enduro and XC. It has perfect modulation, great bite and clean looks. The quality feel is superb. Only cons seem to be the pricing and the that having a Reverb-trigger messes up the look. 05 December 2013

While the hose length will vary slightly from one set to the next, the front hose should run around 900mm, and the rear around 1600mm.
The brakes are supplied as the lever, hose and caliper; pre-bled and ready to install.
