IXS Trail RS Helmet

Designed, tested and built with co-operation from freeride legend Richie Schley, the Trail RS offers impressive, downhill worthy protection with the lightweight and comfort of a Cross Country helmet.

iXS' Trail RS Helmet uses a double in-mould construction that offers exceptional protection - certified to EN1078 & CPCS standards - while cramming in 22 vents. These vents are combined with a large, sculptured visor that directs air into the helmet to keep you cool.

The Trail RS Helmet's visor is fastened using motocross inspired adjusters that hold the visor in an adjustable position. The visor also features a quick release mechanism to prevent damage in a crash.

iXS Trail RS Helmets are incredibly light for their level of protection, weighing in at between 300g and 320g.

"I ride up, ride down - I kind of do everything. The ultimate deal now days is to have on set up and that would be an all-mountain or enduro set up. Protection is breathable and light weight and you can pedal in all day and you have a helmet that goes exactly with that. It's completely breathable, good enough coverage so you feel confident in many situation." - Richie Schley

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ok for people with narrow heads Thin pads, I like em thick;) I am 57cm and the small is to narrow for my head. So I should go to large. Straps are good and so is the lock. Not for me but it might be for you. ;) 17 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent, well fitting helmet After selling my Giro Feature it was between this IXS RS & the Bluegrass GoldenEye. The bluegrass, disappointingly didn't fit well, whereas this IXS was an excellent fit. It sits nice and low on the head, so you're not a mushroom head and is one of the lighter helmet available. There's low coverage at the back and nice padding on the inside. A very comfortable helmet that feels well supported even without doing up the chinstrap. There are also a lot more vents than i'm used to, so will be helpful on the climbs and in summer. The only downside i found was that the goggles strap didn't sit very well. Will have to look into some glasses now. Most new helmets in this price point (£85) are including optional camera/GoPro mounts, whereas this does not. I also would've liked them to be more goggle compatible with the strap at the back. 17 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fit, looks good and is well made. This helmet is quality. Ordered it after trying a 661 recon and being very disappointed. This helmet more than made up for it. Looks great, fits me like a glove, lightweight and well ventilated. If your trying to save money and are looking at cheaper helmets don't, have a few less beers on the weekend or eat less food instead:-) 09 January 2014

Best to go for the larger sizing as a high helmet cannot be modified to fit; where as a slightly larger fit can have padding added to it.
