Fitted to a 9 speed Shimano drivetrain - shifts well and seems to be lasting OK.
Had to trim a few links off for a 36T largest chanring to 34T largest cassette sprocket, easy to break the links and the provided connector is easy to fit.
I did get a set of link remover pliers to make future chain breaking easier, as I always struggle with undoing the magic links.

Super strong, super secure, and so much better than Shimano chains. Smooth changes. I have fully switched to using KMC chains from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous I have used various makes of chain in the past. I usually run them for about six months or until they snap. Last year I bought two X9 chains and after replacing my worn X9 chain recently I decided to keep it for spares. Today I noticed the PC991 chain on my wifes' bike was very worn. After removing the PC991 chain and comparing the length against my used X9 chain I was going to hae to remove two full links. All I can say is the X9 is a very well made product and after numerous attemts I finally managed to shorten the X9. Just to check I had not brocken my rivet extracter I removed a couple of links very easily from the PC991. The KMC X9 is outstanding in every way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous Broke 4 time in 3 rides
I've tried this chain my orange five but I didn't get far. It appears that you have to use a quick link to put it on your bike something that I normally don't do because that leaves the chain with a weak spot, after fixing the chain twice on the first ride I put one in anyway because you can't take this chain apart and put it together again.
Worked fine for 1 ride.
Then on the third ride the chain broke again far from home in the rain :-( fixed it. Rode about a km, broke again.
So if you want a chain that you have to use a quick link with and you can't fix if you are out on the trail buy this chain. If not I suggest you look for another chain.
(Got KMC chain on my singlespeed and that works great, so its just this particular chain that's a bit 'meh')

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Excellent chain
I have the standard X9 chain on my Cube road bike and after 7000km it's not even 0.75 worn. OK I use the KMC quick link and remove the chain once every 6 weeks or so and give it a good clean down in Gunk then dry off and lightly lubricate, but it's the business and for the price you just can't go wrong. Might even bling up to a silver or gold one next time but I understand they lose their gilding colour after a few weeks.

To me a chain is a chain......until I bought this!!! silent running, stupidly strong, crisp slick gear changes, transformed my gear system compared to a crappy cheap chain.
I couldnt see how anyone justifys spending more though, this for me will be the chain I used to my grave.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Great chain
I am currently using this chain with Shimano Deore cranks/chainrings and a Deore 9 speed cassette. It works. I also had the 8 speed version of the chain and I have to say that KMC do know how to make chains. The wear level is great and those bull-eye pins do take some force to push through.
I managed to get my chain to rust, but it was a foolish mistake on my part. I degreased the chain and left it out to dry and continued demuddying my bike. After an hour I remembered to check up on the chain only to see a lot of rust spots on the outer links. After some soaking in Finish Line Ceramic Wet lube there is no sign of rust. Don't leave a degreased, wet chain outside to dry, if it is raining and it is 10 C.

Replaced worn SRAM chains which I was changing every 2 to 3 months due to stretching. These KMC ones have been a marked improvement and covering 5 times the ditance for same amount of stretch
