Leatt DBX Ride 4 Neck Brace

Leatt has added new features to the Ride 4, our lowest priced bicycle neck brace. The chassis is still made from fiberglass reinforced polyamide resin but now features a completely new rear thoracic strut. This strut, called CoreFlex, allows the rear, downward, “fingers” to flex independently of each other with co-molded, soft, rubber set between them and extending below them. Like all Leatt neck braces the Ride 4 was invented by motorcycle racer and trauma surgeon, Doctor Chris Leatt, and built around Leatt Corporation’s patented Alternative Load Path Technology, this brace is CE certified as personal protection. Leatt neck braces are used and trusted by more bicycle, ATV, motorcycle and snowmobile riders and racers than any other neck brace. The world’s most popular neck braces just got better!

Leatt DBX Ride 4 Neck Brace Features:

  • New CoreFlex rear thoracic strut has built in fracture point designed to snap off in a severe crash
  • New color coded rear thoracic strut angle wedges for easier angle adjustment
  • New rear thoracic strut can be set to -5°, 0°, 5°,10°and 15° for the perfect fit
  • 3-Way adjustability for great comfort and fit
  • Engineered collarbone cutout to help keep your helmet and brace away from your most fragile bones
  • Side mounted paramedical designed hinges that opens easy both left and right
  • Redesigned optional clear strap included
  • Removable padding for easy cleaning and maintenance
  • Replacement parts and accessories available
  • CE certified as Personal Protective Equipment PPE 89/686/eec

Rated 5 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by High quality, Good price and comfy This fits incredibly well. I went for the s/m size and it fits me right out of the box. It does come with a nice selection of adjustments though so allowing you to extend the length of the brace or adjust the angle of the backplate to suit your body better. Very impressed with the product. 29 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks good and fits great Great product, was a little bit fiddley to get the fit right but once you get it right you barely notice it's there. 25 February 2014

Neck brace sizing

The neck brace sizing chart suggests the brace has two settings: S/M-L/XL
Where the biggest setting is S/M and the smallest setting is L/XL.- this appears to be conflicting.
What are these settings referring to?
Does this mean the brace is adjustable to meet both sizes?
The sizing chart text doesn't appear to be very self explanatory

Answer:
The sizes are as listed and shown on the sizing guide - S/M is adjustable through the Small and Medium sizes, while L/XL is adjustable through Large and X-Large.
As the size chart shows, you can effectively use the S/M for any size up to a chest circumference of 94cm (37"), a larger chest size than this will need the L/XL version.

Answer:
The Leatt neck braces have been designed for maximum compatibility with upper body armour/ spine protectors and work well with the majority of current designs. Ultimately though, It will depend on the armour in question, and if it is 'neck brace designed' or 'neck brace compatible'

Answer:
From the user manual, the best placement of the thoracic strut is directly up against the body, i.e. under the chest protector (-the purpose of the thoracic strut is to prevent rotation). As long as it sits correctly on the shoulder, chest and the thoracic member areas, the Leatt brace can be worn over a protective jersey such as the POC VPD 2.0. Be sure to use the Strap system to secure the brace in place as well. Some riders prefer the cross strap system to the straps supplied with the braces as standard.
