Manitou Marvel Pro 9mm QR Tapered 2012 Forks

When you produce a fork and name it the Marvel, it better be nothing short of absolutely marvellous. The Marvel  Pro has some nifty features including TPC Technology Absolute + cartridge compression damping, and adjustable TPC cartridge rebound damping; yet weighs in at 3.4lbs. How is that for marvellous? Install this fork onto your high end XC frame and sit back (lean back) and enjoy how reactive this fork is.

Technologies:

  • ISO AIR: ISO Air is Manitou’s isolation air spring technology. It captures some of our MARS Air System’s benchmark plushness and puts it into an efficient cross-country package. We’ve essentially created a compliant link between the unsprung lower half of the fork and the air piston. The result is a system that isolates the rider from harshness on small, square-edged bumps produced by seal drag, or stiction, common in traditional air systems; the science of smooth!

  • TPC (Twin Position Chamber): Providing 4-Dimensional Compression Damping; The velocity dependant circuit responds to the terrain while the Pressure Dependant Circuit flattens the bumps, the Energy Dependant Circuit activates on big hits while providing unmatched small bump sensitivity and the Position Dependant Circuit creates a bottomless feel.
  • ABSOLUTE+: Velocity/Pressure Dependent System; Compatible with MILO remote lever, Absolute+ Switches between velocity dependent to pressure-dependent based on adjuster position. With an eight-position dial for compression rate-adjustment, it achieves lockout feel at maximum adjuster position, and plushness and control with pedalling efficiency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome fitted these to my Giant Trance x4, great handling bike, but with these forks, what a difference, Awesome, can't believe how good they are. And at this price, a steal. I love them. 06 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Manitou Are Back. Despite past problems, Manitou are back. Got these to put on my Kona hardtail and the first thing you will notice about this fork when you take it out of the box is the weight, or lack of it. At 3.3lbs they are light weight and super super stiff. Rode this fork numerous times on a mates bike before purchasing myself. The air system is smooth and progressive. With rebound adjustment and the technology Manitou have put into their forks they are a far better option than many similar on the market. Super stiff and lightweight up front you will feel like you are riding a new bike with this fork on. Would definitely put this on a par with a Reba or similar and at CRC price you'd be mad not to take advantage. Will update this review in a months time. 10 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent fork for such money. Before this fork I had Reba 2008, it is still alive after 24000km. Manitou Marvel pro works almost like Reba, its real weight (with the lehgth of steering tube = 257mm ) is equal 1520 gramm only. 03 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just Buy Them I have ridden these forks on a trance X for five rides (14 hours) on various shingle track, trail, XC trails. I don’t have much else to say but AMAZING. The responses for rapped root and rocks are just perfect. Level of adjustments allow for perfect ride on any grade up and down. I have been on Fox ctds and rock shocks and can’t see why anyone would pay 2-3 times the price when can have Marvel for these kind of prices. One con to these shocks are they make you want to ride faster and harder then you ever have before and therefore sometimes obstacles come quicker than expected! 24 September 2013

Answer:
The 'Manitou Marvel Pro Forks - QR - 9mm - Tapered 2012' would come in either 100mm or 120mm Travel versions but in relation to compatibility with your 'Scott Genius Frame', you will need to check the Steer Tube size required as the 'Manitou Marvel Pro Forks' selected would use a 1.5” Tapered Steer tube.

Correct size?

Hi,

I just pulled my 2004 Specialized Fsr comp xc, out of storage. The front suspension is too soft, will this fork fit bike and will it have complete and easy control to turn on and off suspension? Thanks

Answer:
These forks will not be suitable for your bike. They have the newer tapered steerer tube while your bike uses the 1.1/8th steerer.

The model of fork you need is shown below, this has a good amount of adjustment and can be easily locked out with a quick lever turn on the top of the fork.

Isn't it a mistake in pricing that price of 120mm is 2 times of one of 100mm?
Only 100mm stroke one has a great discount ratio, and 120mm doesn't. So there is large difference in pricing between the two. It seems clerical mistake to me.

Can this fork be adapted to fit my 2010 Corratec X-vert SO1 frame? It is currently fitted with a rigid carbon fork, 1 1/8'' steerer and semi integrated headset (purchased from you, delivered to me in NZ, excellent service!) If possible to adapt, what would I need to get, along with the fork, to make it work?

With so many high end tracks on my doorstep in New Zealand, I feel I need the benefit of front suspension to attack them safely at speed.

Will these forks fit my 2012 Carrera Vulcan ? I have been told/agree my forks are heavy so am looking for a sub £200 replacement. I have got no idea of the technical terms used - just want a lighter, more responsive and smoother front fork that looks good. Do i need forks to be tapered, 9mm or 15mm. My bike does have QR and hydrolic discs.

Answer:
You'll need a straight 1.1/8" (non-tapered) steerer, with 80-100mm of travel, disc mounts and standard 9mm QR dropouts. Any of those linked below should be fine
