Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple function What is there to say does what its ment to. I needed it to use up the space on my hub as I was changing from 10 to 9 speed. 23 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value product Turns out this was the wrong product - it did not fit my bike. However, had it been the right one I'm sure it would work very well. Looks durable. 17 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Converted my Aksiums to a Shimano 8-speed After much time wasted on internet blogs wondering whether I would be able to mount an 8-speed Shimano cassette on a pair of Mavic Aksiums I decided to order a pair with one of these spacers. I am pleased to say it couldn't have been easier to install and I'm now happily running my Aksiums on my 8-speed set up. 19 March 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Spacer Quality 1.75mm spacer which comes as standard with mavic wheels. Does not corrode. Always handy to have a few spares, if needed. 29 January 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mavic Spacer M40417 The description is not correct. This is a 1.75mm spacer to allow Shimano 8,9 or 10 speed cassette to be installed on an Mavic M10 freehub as found on aksium, ksyruim, cosmics etc. It is the genuine Mavic part number M40417 and does exactly what I needed it for. Note if using a 10 speed shimano cassette you also need the 1mm spacer that came with the cassette. If 8/9 speed no 1mm shimano spacer is needed. The parts are installed with mavic 1.75mm spacer first, then shimano 1mm spacer on 10 speed systems, then cassette. 16 April 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very handy and used more often than you'd think! This item came with a set of Mavic Crossride wheels I upgraded one of my bike with. On reading the instructions it looks like it says it's not needed with a 8/9 speed cassette but without it my SRAM PG970 was flapping about all over the place. Once I fitted this ring it was all good and everything was tight and solid. 05 July 2011

Will this fit a Shimano R501 wheel ?

I have a Shimano R501 wheel and a Shimano 105 5700 cassette and regardless of adjustment the rear mech tips the spokes while climbing in the biggest sprocket, the only way I can see to fix this is with a spacer, so will this fit ???
Thanks

Answer:
Yes; this Mavic cassette spacer will fit any standard Shimano/SRAM style freehub - it will fit your Shimano R501 wheel, but it sounds more like your gear hanger or mech cage may be bent; if your limiter screw is in the correct location for the largest ring and still fouling the spokes, something is most likely bent slightly (and adding an extra spacer to your cassette may mean you are unable to properly secure the lockring). I'd suggest double checking your gear hanger etc, or having your local bike shop take a quick look at your setup first.
