The reference Disc rim for all extreme MTB riding. Its double eyelet and SUP welded join provides it the necessary strength to withstand the most aggressive use. 36 mm wide, it allows the most demanding riders to ride the largest tire on the market.

Features:
• Maxtal
• SUP
• Traditional drilling
• Double Eyelet
• Clincher
• Disc

Dimensions:
• ETRTO compatible size: 559 x 29
• Recommended tyre widths: 2.30 to 3.00
• Valve hole diameter: 8.5 mm
• Recommended nipple length: 12 mm
• Recommended rim tape: 559 x 18 x 0.6

Technologies:
• Maxtal: Exclusive to Mavic. An aluminium alloy that is 30% more resistant than a 6106 alloy, for lighter and stronger rims.
• SUP: Soudé Usiné Process. After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish. A welded and milled rim joint is extremely strong, eliminates shuddering when braking, and offers superior wheel balance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Good! Mavic EX729, 26" MTB: Seems solidly built. For 91mm between opposite hub spoke hole centres, I've used 248mm spokes for 3+ , undished, throughout. Afterwards I looked at 18* 248*mm and 18*250mm, but no. When spoking-up, I started developing a hollow around the join (where the label is on this one - which helps). This is probably me rather than them (though it was at the join), and it was a trouble until I noticed it. 12 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Expensive but well worth it Ever since back when these were the D321's in 2005, these have always been my rim of choice. Yes They are heavy compared to some but with the weight comes strength. I've had 2 sets of these. The first built onto hope xc hubs and the second built on the pro 2's. Can't fault the build quality. The set on the pro2's I got from CRC and I've been running these for well over 3 years without needing a single truing and only one complete bearing change on the rear hub...Hope & Mavic 729's... A choice for life 05 January 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by not suitable for downhill I'm not a heavy rider, I weight only 70 kg (155 lbs) and I'm riding with 30 psi (2 bar) in tires. However, I've been able to brake two of this rims on my rear wheel in two years. Also two of my friends have broken this rims in same conditions. I wouldn't recommend to ride rocky tracks on this rims. 24 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Almost Unbreakable I have used the 36h version of this for over 25 runs of fort william and have never had to true the wheel. It has also suffered zero dents or cracks. I would definitely buy this rim again> 31 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bombproof Have been riding with these for three years on all kinds of terrains and never needed to true them! The wide inner width sizes up your 2.4 & 2.5 tyres. They can hold up true and spotless even in the gnarliest of rockgardens at bikepark speeds. Bombproof rim with only the price of added weight. 07 February 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by fully sick got this rim on front and back after a few others crumbled beneath my gnarly riding. looks pretty trick aswell. invest peeps 19 April 2012
