Maxxis Ardent MTB Tyre

The Maxxis Ardent 26" MTB Folding Tyre comes with a aggressive tread in high-volume casing, designed with great traction in mind. The Ardent doesn’t forget the racer, with large block-style side knobs offering numerous edges for high-speed cornering. The center tread, while ideal for braking and accelerating traction, also features ramped knobs to minimize rolling resistance. With a wide variety of size offerings, the Ardent captures every mountain rider’s needs.

Specifications:

  • Foldable Bead - Foldable beads also keep the tire secured to the rim but are lighter weight and easily transported. The bead is made of spun aramid or Kevlar® fibers.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well designed tyre, grips like crazy Takes a bit of effort to seat the bead when running tubeless but once seated ive had 2 rock garden crashes since and not one burp. 22 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by bargain price excellent front tyre, really grippy in most conditions. always buy from crc now fast delivery & great service 27 December 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good quality tyre for a multitude of conditions This tyre is great, ridden on wet and dry ground, front and rear, plenty of grip and plenty of volume. No puncture issues so far. 25 December 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by A decent XC tyre, light, quick rolling, not the last word in grip especially on the front- I have a set of these F&R on my Commencal Meta SX. They are fast on fire roads, hook up reasonably well in the dry and don't slip out on the back when the trail points upwards and they have plenty of cushion (2.4"). Where they aren't great though is lent over and pushed hard, they lack grip at steeper lean angles and the front feels vague compared to something like a Minion or High Roller. Keep them for lighter XC duties and they are great, they are a super fire road tyre. 19 December 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great tyre Used on rear with a high roller up front. Provides good grip and traction in the wet and mud. So far it's a good tyre. Maybe some time before it's tested in the dry. 20/11/13 21 November 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by An excellent choice I use it as front tyre, size 29'' 2.25'' and pressure 36 to 38psi. My first impression comparing to my old one is that offers very good grip even with its sides. With old front tyre during turn I could lose control, ARDENT give control and confidence. So if your problem is grip I recommend that tyre. I will use another one as rear tyre and believe that I will have the similar results. Since know I have used it in dry trail with root and rocks. 26 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just a great all round tyre I ran these front and back on one of my bikes all weathers, all surfaces for two years and i can't rate them highly enough.Easy rolling, not too weighty and grip well in all but the worse mud.I ran the 26x2.25 which come up quite fat compared to some other 2.25 tyres so make sure you have adequate tyre clearance in your forks and frame.Reliable and predictable. 03 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Tyre Now I have a road bike I can kit my Whyte 901 out for single track/cross country. Spent ages reading up on tyres and settled on the Ardent for the front with a Mxxis Crossmark on the rear. Having switched from Panaracer xc fire pros these feel amazing, so much more cushion. Ran them at Swinley for their first run at 35 psi (6'2" 14 stone) and they felt amazing. The track was very sticky and muddy; the tyre just ate everything gravel, mud and hard pack. The extra size of the tyres smoothed out the track and made the jumps feel much sweeter. It clogged up a bit in the thick mud but frankly I wouldn't want to compromise the rest of my riding for the few muddy spots and to be fair I don't think it would be much different with any other tyre. Could not recommend this tyre enough - love it!! 15 April 2013

I would fit this on a rigid 29er, what do you think about ?
