The CrossMark is the dramatic evolution of the cross country racing tire. The nearly continuous center ridge flies on hardpack, yet has enough spacing to grab wet roots and rocks. The slightly raised ridge of side knobs offers cornering precision never before seen on a tire this fast.

Maxxis Crossmark Wire Tyre Specifications:

  • Fast rolling center ridge.
  • Raised side knobs for better cornering
  • Size: 26x2.25
  • TPI: 60

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 57 reviewers.
09 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great tires. So far I did about 300 km on these tires. I used them on the road wet and dry, in the mud, and gravel. They perform very good. Good grip in all condition. The small cross pattern tend to get some small piece of gravel up towards the frame but only into damp small piece of gravel. The tires I replaced were Maxxis and they lasted forever. I do expect these tires to be on the bike for a very long time. 26 September 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good tire Fast, great for rocky trails but lacking grip in muddy conditions. Overall it's very good quality for the price you pay 11 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Отличная покрышка. 22 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great factory replacement Replaced stock tires with this on the rear, very fast, puts down the power well. 18 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 09 May 2014

Answer:
If you are spending most of your time on roads and hard paths then you want a thinner width tyre as this will have less rolling resistance and roll faster. So the likes of the 1.95 would be a good width. As for the 60a or 70 it's to do with the hardness of the rubber - a lower number will be softer - which will grip better, but wear out faster. A higher number will be a harder compound - less grip in certain situations, but more durable. So depends on when you will be using the tyres but i would normally go for the 60a this time of the years with the wet and cold.

Answer:
These are the tyre rubber compounds that Maxxis use:

70a is a hard compound. Fast rolling but with little grip.

Maxxpro is 60a and is a good compromise between 70a and 42a.

Exception is 62a so very similar to Maxxpro but with extra sidewall protection.

Super Tacky is 42a - very grippy, but slow and wears super fast

Slow Reezay is 40a, It's a very, very soft compound designed for DH racing in the wet

Answer:
The higher is the number the harder is the compound. The soft compound is better for the grip but it does not last as long. The harder is the compound the longer the tire will last but you are loosing on the grip. The 42a is a soft compound used for downhill. The 60A or 62A is a good compromised for trail and road. If you commute of the road or dirt jumping you are better with 70a.
