Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light and fast, tubeless ready This tyre is light and fast - noticeably lighter than the ardent race and about the same as the Geax AKA. Great speed and grip on hardpack, and works great on dry loose stuff by running a few psi lower. Best thing is I had no problems tubeless mounting (Fulcrum red metal 29XL rims). I've had a few cuts which healed (it's a light tyre - this will happen) so I'd recommend converting to tubeless if you haven't already. 23 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great tyre! This tyre is fast, great grip, with a smooth transition when leaning over. The volume is just perfect for me. But what I really like is how long these wear, with the Racing Ralph I noticed a reduction in grip after 3 months, my Ikon takes 9-12 months before I notice a reduction in grip. Tubeless setup is rock solid and easy. 05 August 2012

Confusion in spec/answers

Hi guys,
Seems to be a bit of contradiction here. Firstly the specs don't seem to add up. The Maxxis website has a different weight for the EXO 120 tpi tyres. The only 580g tyres are 60 tpi non EXO. Secondly the CRC answer to the tubeless question suggests these tyres are non EXO (sidewall reinforcement) and a low tpi (i.e. 60 not 120 tpi). Specs clearly say 120 tpi and EXO though!

So which is it? Interested in buying the tyre if I could correctly identify exactly which one it is!

Answer:
The tyre we have is the Ikon 3C Maxx Speed 3C/EXO
It's not UST or specifically marked as Tubeless Ready however it can be run as tubeless using a conversion kit and sealant.
It is 120tpi and the one I weighed was 600g on my scales, Maxxis say 590g for the 29 x 2.2. Their scales may be more generous...Our description will be updated soon.
