Maxxis Medusa Tyre

Inspired by our professional European XC racers for racing on muddy terrain. The small profile is lightweight and cuts through loose terrain, while the spiked tread pattern works to find traction through the mud. The widely spaced tread pattern resists packing by shedding mud and loose, damp soil. The Medusa performs well in mud, and the low profile also makes it an excellent choice for lighter riders.

  • Widely spaced, cleated knob design
  • Low-volume mud tire

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic winter tyre I have been using these 2.1 front and 1.8 rear all all winter the sizes give you plenty of clearance in the frame /forks.They clear mud really well and grip on just about any wet/muddy surface.Despite the softness they have lasted the whole winter(i think its nearly ended) I ride trail centres and also xc around the Cotswold area. They replaced the rubber queens I was riding with last year when the ground started getting too soft for them. Highly recomend them. 18 April 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellents !

Rated 5 out of 5 by AWESOME TYRE, JUST REMEMBER THEIR INTENDED FOR MUD !! After 2 rides I found the limit of these tyres today. Was fish tailing it across a wet wooden bridge, back just spun so easily with every crank, was great fun, til the front tucked !! Luckily only a 2 ft drop off the side, and a bruised thigh and a little winded but funny. Okay seriously, these tyres are awesome (i've got 2.1's, FR 35psi RR 40psi). I read reviews galore before buying, and disagree with most comments about road riding. I have a few road sections on my local rides (although all slow to med paced), and these tyres showed no issues other than I felt it needed a little more effort. In the mud their amazing, you still slide, but smoothly and with predictabilty, then they dig in and grip, perfect !! Roots and rocks are an issue, and I avoid them on my rides, if you have a lot of roots and/or rocks these are the wrong choice. Only other problem is on climbs, if ya get wet grass or leaves under you and ya over the front, the back will spin !! If you ride through mud, buy them. Wet leaves and grass are fine, except when climbing. Road sections are fine, roots and rocks are not what these tyres are designed for !! 20 November 2010

Answer:
This tyre is not UST specific so I would advise against using it tubeless.
