I run a Minion DHF 2.35 Maxxpro 60A on the front of my full sus and totally trust it.Can I run the same on the rear? I did look at the Minion DHR but looks like it may drag due to the tread design (NOT the new DHR 2) and I could do with keeping what speed i do manage to generate! I swapped to my old Conti Rubber Queens this weekend and didn't like the experience.

I run Minion front & rear on my trail bike.
The 2.35 DHF Maxpro 60a is the tyre I'm running at the back, I run it in the opposite direction to the front.
very happy with it, hooks up nice and rolls well.
Your right about the rear version, it does drag more

I was using same setup (minion front on front and rear wheel) also and was OK. Grip is good, but it is not for the road :-).

I run a DHF on both the front and back - you can mount the rear one back to front to either increase or decrease traction.

Answer: 
Short answer yes. When I switched from a DHR to a DHF on the rear I found that the rear had less of a tendency to go sideways and hooked up in the corners. The downside is you lose quite a bit of breaking ability on the rear due to the lack of lateral center
knobs you find on the DHR.

If this doesn't sound like you and you want a fast rolling tire that will grip under cornering and breaking I would suggest pairing the DHF up front with a High Roller 2 on the rear.

Haven't tried the DHR2 yet but that would be worth a go as well, I understand they corner much better than the original DHR.

Folding bead means that the tyre doesn't have a solid rim bead and is very flexable. Most folding bead tyres are lighter than there steel counterparts.

Folding Bead/Folding Tyres are lighter and offer a similar performance to Wire Tyres, Folding Bead Tyres can be carried in your back pack and are also easier to be posted, from what I have also read that are necessary for running tubeless set ups. Work out the type of ridding your doing , and your budget , wire tyres seem to be cheaper to buy.

Well, folding bead tires can be folded. Wire beads, not so much. The bead is where the tire contacts the rim. Wire beads — formed by a thin steel wire — are old school. They’ve been in use for decades. The folding beads are usually made of Kevlar. Wire bead tires are usually heavier, but they’re also usually cheaper than folding beads.

Answer: 
Traditionally tyres had a 'Wire Bead' around the edge of the tyre to hold it in place on the rim. This system was quite heavy compared to the newer Folding Beaded Tyres.

Folding Bead/Folding Tyres are lighter and offer a similar performance to Wire Tyres; this of course is a matter of preference and the weight difference is minimal, but major manufacturers are currently producing most designs in the 'Folding' Style; which are also necessary for running a 'Tubeless' setup where applicable.

Best tyre for the C2C

I'm doing the c2c next month, some off road but a lot of road cycling on a mountain bike tyre size 26"x 2.2 . Any suggestions on the best tyre for the job?

For the best of both worlds you'll want a semi-slick (tread on the side, lower rolling on the centre), preferably with puncture protection. The narrower the tyre the quicker it will roll as well, so something closer to 2.0 might run better for you. I'd consider any of the below as decent starting points..

I ve ridden to work on canals and I found that scwalbe big apple tyres had very little rolling resistance and made for comfortable 20 mile commute. They are slick however.

Did this a couple of years ago - it's mainly road so I went with Schwalbe Marathon plus - the puncture protection is excellent (only 1 puncture in 3 years) doing c4K miles per year. These tyres are superb on road but do feel a bit twitchy on loose surfaces and are poor in mud but that is to be expected.
There are some loose sections so may have gone with more of a semi-slick on reflection but given mainly road these helped me keep up with the guys on road bikes!

For road or light trails anything with a more conservative tread pattern, or semi-slicks would be worth a look. Running a narrower tyre on the road will reduce rolling resistance as well.

Presently this is fitted with road tyres 26 x 1.5

I want to change these for tyres with more grip and looking at 26 x 2.0 or 2.2 Will these fit the wheel?

We have various options depending on which level of 'advanced grip' required.

Assuming these tyres are mainly going to be also used for road and possible some gravel tracks etc. there are a few options listed below.
