These are by far and away the cheapest and best accessory i've ever bought for my bike.
For best results I cut the midsection of each brake/gear cable with a dremel rotary tool to get them completely perpendicular and maximise the sealing. In use the spray lube just comes out of both ends of the cable-none comes out of the outer cable/oiler junction.
It's a far cry from the clamp-on type oilers you buy from motorcycle shops-i've struggled with them for years and most of the lube comes out of the oiler instead of even trying to go down the cable. In contrast these are a brilliantly simple solution to an age-old problem.
Healthy cables are a must on any bike-you'll get more riding pleasure from a £100 Halfords special with correctly lubed and adjusted control cables than you will from a £4000 unobtanium all-mountain rig with seized gear cables!

These are such a good idea. I'm lazy when it comes to regular bike maintenance, but even I can stretch to a quick squirt of GT85 every now and then. My gears have been good all year as a result. Best of all, I did away with the expensive, and always disappointing, gear cable systems with inners and outers and inner outers etc and just have a good old fashioned cable and some sections of outer. I keep it lubed with these cable oilers and it's really simple and effective.
Only concern is the rubbers have starting cracking already, so I might be replacing them every year or two if they actually break.
Even if they do break they are highly recommended and WAY cheaper than annoying and unreliable gear cable systems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous Do not oil your cables
I bought these before i realised that bike cables should not be oiled. Once you oil them once, you have to do it every time you ride to clean them due to the unholy amount of dirt that sticks to the oil and gets pulled inside your casings. The best cables are clean and dry, for both road and dirt, that's how manufacturers design their systems to work. Cables are consumables on bikes, dont expect them to last more than a few months, change them regularly (2-3 times a year), not because they get dirty but because they stretch. No amount of oil and cleaning will prevent this so it's good practice to change them once problems arise.
If you're having problems with sticky cables get educated on how to prepare casings and cables correctly and buy new cables. If you cycle in a mud bath, consider a sealed system. Even the best sealed systems wont last a week if prepared incorrectly. Oiling them is a poor solution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous Not Full-suspension compatible
I'm assuming that the previous reviewer with the Stumpjumper has a hardtail model. I have a full suspension and did wonder as I fitted them how they would react to the continuous movement of the back arm, even with adequate slack and plenty of tension. The answer is: Do Not Fit These On A Full Suspension Bike. I took the bike out for a gentle ride down our road and back, and two oilers had unseated themselves in minutes. Hate to think what they would do if I had taken them off road. Time to buying some replacement outers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous These work very well!
I've been using these on my bike for 4 years with not cable problems whatsoever. And I do ride in any conditions, including -30C in winter.
My Shimano XTR cable outers plastic cracked in several times in these conditions (no good), bought some Goodridge gear cable outers and they're 5mm thick, thicker than most gear cable outers. So if you have Goodridge gear cable outers, buy 5mm oilers for both brakes and gear cables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous Works great on yumeya cables
Hi, I was a bit skeptic on functionality before installation After buying it and very simple installation on very expensive Yumeya cable set I tested the spray in with classic WD40. It really works. I installed the oiler on the middle of the cable and on both sides leaked out the injected WD40. simple as that...
From now on all my bikes will have these oilers application as standard.
Strongly recommending them!!!
