NC-17 MG I Magnesium Pedals

Easily the lightest hard-knock pedal in the NC-17 series, weighing a feathery 386 grams per pair. The pedal’s platform has 18 replaceable pins scattered over its concave “tried and true” profile, plus we used a shortened cro-mo axle to further reduce weight.

Features:

  • Cold forged magnesium body
  • Sealed precision bearings
  • Weight: 386gram
  • Replacement pins included

Rated 5 out of 5 by Good choice Did by the DMR, changed them for these. They're a lot lighter and just as strong 05 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by 4 years and over 3000km of riding and they're still going! First off I know these are actually slightly more pricey Wellgo pedals. I didn't buy them, they came FOC with my Scott Scale 40 with I bought around Q4 2009 (cause I didn't want the SPDs that were supposed to come with the bike then). I eventually transferred them and most of the parts to my Morewood Zula and they are still in use today. Weight wise their very light at this price point and can beat some of their more expensive competition (think price to weight ratio and take for example the DMR V12 MG). Build quality is excellent for this price, they've outlasted my Spank Spike pedal which were bought later and at over twice their price. (The Spank pedals had to be rebuilt due to clicking noises when putting the power down into the pedals) I have yet to rebuild or regrease the NC-17s at this point in time and they still work fine. As for cons, there aren't many the pedals are a tad thick leading to some trail strikes during cornering and the pins are difficult to remove which is why I haven't replaced them yet (I liked the way the pins were installed on the Spank Spikes). Why I haven't given it a max rating for value is because they are actually rebadged and pricier Wellgo pedals. Other than that these are a good and solid set of pedals that won't break your bank. 09 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by aka Wellgo MG-1 These are excellent platform pedals, I own two pairs. However, they are re-branded Wellgo MG-1's, so check under both names to see which is cheapest at the moment. 24 April 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by XcKRObSkWGdiNqerz Upon receiving the MTB-3 I used it to rlaepce the pedals on my MTB using the pedal wrench that is built into the chain tool. With very minimal torque, the wrench kept slipping off, like the wrench was too big. Closer examination showed a crack in the tool that was almost invisible until you applied torque. I notified the store I purchased it from and they agreed to send a rlaepcement. While waiting for the rlaepcement to arrive, I used one of the hex keys to remove my disc brake calipers and the end of the shaft that holds all the tool in popped off. I am hopeful that I got a lemon and this will not happen with the rlaepcement. 07 March 2012

Rated 4 out of 5 by Light but not the best grip These pedals are very light, but i found the grub pins quite short. Still good pedals, just not quite as grippy as others, even with 5/10s. Perhaps DMR terror pins would help 08 April 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by jolly good After running those flats for 'bout four weeks, I hit a rock and only the axle casting containing not more than one pin was left. I was able to enjoy the rest of the day (riding slower) but it surely cramped my feet. I'm glad I was using them for the magnesium being brittle enough to keep blows of my cranks. I rather destroy a 100 quid (CHF) pedal instead of bending my crankarms. So I got them again. They now have seen hundrets of alpine descents and are still fine. Although the bearing could be a bit better. 08 April 2010
