Nukeproof Mega AM 275 Pro Bike

Mega AM 275 Pro - All Mountain, no compromise

The Mega AM 275 Pro marries the evolution of our 160mm Enduro/AM frame, along with the new 27.5” wheel size. and a high-end parts list for a bike that’s ready to take its place on any Alpine starting line.

Designed for All-Mountain adventure, Alpine playtime and Megavalanche-style Gravity Enduro events, the Nukeproof Mega AM 275 has been refined and improved with rear travel increased to 160mm and an all-new custom hydroformed tubeset for increased front-end stiffness and improved strength-to-weight ratio.

The Mega AM 275 Pro is available with a RockShox Monarch Plus RC3  - and features the brand new 160mm RockShox Pike RCT3 forks up front, SRAM X9 T2 transmission, quality Nukeproof finishing kit and RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper seatpost.

Custom hydroformed frame with Erosion Linkage suspension

The Mega AM 275 Pro frameset is engineered from custom hydroformed double-welded T6 6061 aluminium, with our Nukeproof ‘Erosion’ linkage giving a smooth progressive suspension action with a well controlled mid-stroke to avoid wallowing under pedal loads.

Oversize main pivot bearings are contained in a bespoke CNC-machined Bottom Bracket assembly to ensure alignment, durability and precision, while an asymmetric chainstay design gives clearance for a front derailleur and compatibility with all leading models of ISCG 05 - mounted chain retention systems.

Geometry is based around a slack 66deg head angle and steep 73.5deg seat angle, with a long wheelbase keeping the centre of gravity low for optimum stability at speed.

Alpine-ready components package

The 2013 Nukeproof AM 275 Pro is available with the RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 - A lightweight AM air shock with piggyback reservoir, Dual Flow rebound and compression adjustment

New RockShox Pike RCT3 Solo Air forks provide 160mm of burly, rock-munching suspension up front, in an air-sprung package that’s still light enough for climbing. Infinitely tunable for rider preference, the Pike features the new 15mm Maxle Lite thru-axle for precision tracking, flex-free braking and optimum front-end stiffness.

With suspension this good you need parts that will meet the challenge of the downhill hammer as well as the uphill haul - so we’ve specced a burly SRAM X9 T2 transmission with Truvativ Descendant 1x10 crankset (36T) and SRAM X0 chainguide making sure everything stays where it’s supposed to. Add the dependable, fade-free braking performance of the new Avid Elixir 9 Trail disc stoppers - essential for long Alpine descents - and you’ve got the perfect AM package.

The Nukeproof Mega AM 275 Pro also features the remote-activated RockShock Reverb Stealth hydraulic dropper seatpost with infinite seat-height adjustment and control of your return speed - the perfect match for a bike with All-Mountain intentions and an essential edge in competition.

Nukeproof Finishing Kit

Finishing kit on the Nukeproof Mega AM 275 Pro comes courtesy of our own tried and tested Warhead series of components. Our Nukeproof Generator AM wheelset is a slimmed-down version of our classic DH hoops, reducing rotational weight without compromising long-term durability or the ability to take big hits on the chin. Matched with peerless Maxxis High Roller 2.3” rubber, it’s a wheelset that can be pushed to the limit on the downs, without being a drag on the ups.

Our Warhead headset, stem and 760mm riser bars combined with Element lock-on grips make a fuss-free cockpit setup for the most aggressive of gravity pilots, while our Nukeproof Trail Mega saddle is a comfortable perch for short-blast racing or the longest of big-country days.

The Nukeproof Mega AM 275 Pro - evolved bike design, for evolved riding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top spec bike at a very good price This was a leap to spend so much on a bike. Weeks and weeks of research went into my selection and I was worried about buying a bike without sitting on it first. I decided on this bike as the pike fork and rear suspension appeared top end, the components were good and for vanity, it looks quite cool. I took it to my local trail centre and was amazed just what difference the 27.5 wheel size makes. I get more momentum from the pedaling and roots and rocks that were a problem in my old 26" hardtail, I simply pass over them without even noticing they are there - that is probably down to all the suspension also. The tyres give incredible grip and confidence going into corners/berms and my speed has noticably increased. The bike is heavier than other in this price bracket, however the quality of the suspension allows me to manage this with no concerns. If I was to have one critisism, it would be the brakes. I did not rate avid brakes too highly and this has been confirmed after 4 months of riding through the winter mud. I have bought shimano XTR and will be fitting that. This was something that I knew I would be having to look at. The other thing I would have liked would be a custom fitted rubber chainstay guard. The velcro/cable tie attachment spoils the aesthetics. Overall I am delighted with the bike. It may be not as smooth at the weld points, of not have internal cabling, but given the components it has, the set up and the general feel of the bike, I have definately made the right choice and would recommend this bike to anyone. It looks great without shouting it loud, is robust looking and is ready to face anything straight out of the box. 27 March 2014
