We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

The original Nukeproof Mega was inspired by the explosion in Enduro-style DH events, taking its name and its cues from the daddy of them all – the Megavalanche

For 2013 we’ve given the Mega AM a makeover, with an all-new custom hydroformed tubeset for increased front-end stiffness and improved strength-to-weight ratio, plus an additional 10mm rear travel – now 160mm – offering ultimate stability and confidence on the most gnarly of Alpine descents.

Now designed to take forks with up to 180mm travel, the Mega AM combines downhill prowess with pedalling efficiency – perfect for the unique challenges thrown up by competitive Enduro events, Alpine trips, All-Mountain adventures or tough, technical riding where uplifts aren’t an option.

Progressive suspension

Suspension-wise, the Mega uses our 'Erosion' linkage giving a smooth progressive action with a well controlled mid-stroke to avoid wallowing under pedal loads.

Oversize main pivot bearings are contained in a bespoke CNC-machined Bottom Bracket assembly to ensure alignment, durability and precision, while an asymmetric chainstay design gives clearance for a front derailleur and compatibility with all leading models of ISCG 05 - mounted chain retention systems.

Geometry is based around a slack 66deg head angle and 72deg seat angle, with a long wheelbase keeping the centre of gravity low for optimum stability at speed.

A 44mm headset standard keeps the front of the bike light, with Nukeproof headset options allowing flush internal, flush top/external bottom, tapered or 1.5in headset compatibility, while at the rear, a 142mm x 12mm thru-axle keeps things planted.

The Mega AM also features removable cable guides for a ‘gravity dropper’ adjustable seat post, as well as internal cable routing for a RockShox Reverb Stealth post.

Nukeproof Mega AM Frame Features:

  • All Mountain/Enduro race frame
  • Custom hydroformed T6 6061 Aluminium tubeset
  • 160mm travel
  • Fork range: 160mm to 180mm

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Short term review: durable enduro machine Coming from from very active enduro scene with occasional trail rides for fun and conditioning, I needed a change. I was constantly replacing or worrying of frame parts cracking or bending on my old ('12/26") 6.7" frame. I'm not gonna black paint the otherwise awesome bike, but I can tell you it's no el cheapo.. so I decided to go for something similar, but burlier. The Mega AM fit perfectly. 300 grams more weight on just frame only. While I did not get a chance to test ride Mega, judging by the geometry chart I knew it would be a bit "bigger" bike than my last M-sized 17.5" full sus (I'm 175cm/5'9"). This happened to be exactly that - longish wheelbase, longish chainstay. Don't get me wrong, the bike doesn't feel like it's hard to control due to size nor does it feel like a tank. There's just this tiny feel that you need to work when you want to go around tight slow speed corners, although it's a lot easier task when you have as stable steed as Mega AM under you. Lowish BB height and good 66º head angle adds to this. What I really like is how the bike feels in high speeds. "confidence inspiring", probably the first time I knew what the marketing men were trying to say elsewhere. Aside from geometries, build quality is nice, big smooth welds and systematic machining. Frame size is generally +1. Nice bearings with good protection from the elements. I took silver option against public opinion and was surprised happily IRL. 160mm of travel is just enough to hit the burliest local DH-trails and get through with a smile on your face. Pedals well on saddle, bobbing is very close to zero even with low low speed compression, but it bob a bit when powering on high gear out of saddle. Having said that, you only feel the bob on straights, not on steep climbs! Waiting for the summer to really start, might write a long term review come fall. I'm liking it so far, fits my "pedal up, hit it down" style perfectly. TLDR: topic says it all, meant to last, slack angles, sizing on bigger side, shines the faster you go 18 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect all rounder bike capable of anything I've been riding he old shaped mega for over 2 years and loved it to bits. The only thing I wanted to change was a longer top tube and wheelbase and that's exactly what the new mega is. The CCDB is perfect for the bike and so much more active than the air shock. The bike is easy to flick about, stable at speed and feels solid. The frame really isn't heavy despite some reviews, yes is not the lightest around but it's geared more for going down than up. I'm 5ft 10 and chose the large 18.5" version as it's the perfect top tube length. For the price of the frame including the cane creek I couldn't ask for more. 16 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great frame! best bike i could of bought for the money! got it on sale for €1160 in BRIGHT yellow. paint jobs very nice and tough... tested it out on some rocks after about 30 seconds into my first ride on the bike. not a mark so happy days :) 25 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome frame for an awesome price Ordered this for my next bike build project. As usual CRC delivers quick. Frame was well padded and was free of any cosmetic defects. Manual, cable guides, CCDB manual and tool were all included in the package. Overall, excellent stuff, frame looks wicked in black and yellow. Cant wait to build this baby up! 15 December 2013

Answer:
With dropouts, you can only change rear hub spacing - 135x12 or 142x12. Mega AM is based on 26" geometry. 275AM for bigger wheel size.

Answer:
The listed head angle is based on the 160mm setup; running a 180mm fork is unlikely to alter the head angle by more than 1 degree (generally speaking, it's around half a degree for every 10mm of difference in the axle-to-crown length on the fork). Coupled with the sag from a 180mm fork, you're unlikely to notice any discernible difference between the two fork setups on this frame.

Answer:
I actually haven't found a definitive answer. I'd say it's on 160mm fork, since the rear also has 160mm of travel and nukeproof supplies their complete bikes with 160mm pike. The bike feels very slack (with 170mm lyrik) compared to my 67º giant reign x but not as slack as my specialized demo, somewhat same slackness as my giant glory. Hope this helps!

I relatively new with building bikes and quite overwhelmed by the choices of BB's out there. Any specific type of bottom bracket for this? Im planning to use SRAM X01 11 Speed Crankset(either GXP or BB30).

Answer:
This frame has threaded bottom bracket which 73mm wide.

GXP [line of models] type of bottom bracket will fit this frame. BB30 [type of mount] is intended for non-threaded, press-fit applications and will not fit this frame.

Answer:
The geometry is based on 26" wheels. There's plenty of space for wide and burly tires, but I'd guess it doesn't have the space to take 27.5" wheels.
