Nukeproof ShockWave Titanium Spring

WHEN YOU WIN OR LOOSE BY 0.01 SECONDS - EVERY GRAM COUNTS

The Nuke Proof Shockwave Titanium spring is the Ultimate in coil spring technology and the must have upgrade for any coil sprung mountain bike. Saving weight is mega important, even for today's downhillers where acceleration out of corners and along flat sections can win or lose a race. Today many Freeride and all mountain riders are moving back to coil shocks as they just cant get that 'buttery smooth' feeling out of an Air shock and for these riders Ti is the solution for the best performance with minimal weight.

Benefits of the Nuke Proof Ti Spring:

  • Light weight - up to 33% lighter than the equivalent steel spring.
  • High frequency response and improved suspension dynamics
  • Longer fatigue life than a steel spring which can go 'Dead'
  • Make you look like pro!

The Nuke Proof Ti Spring has a 36mm inside diameter and will fit most oversize shocks including, Fox DHX coil, Manitou Swinger, Revox Coil and Progressive 5th Coil.

How do I choose the correct size?

There are three important things you need to know about your set-up:

  1. The Stroke of your shock - This is the actual travel of the shock itself. To measure this, measure the visible part of the shock shaft in Inches 1" = 25.4mm (This is the part that disappears as the shock compresses)
  2. The Maximum Spring Free length that your shock will take. To do this wind the preload off completely and measure from the inside of the spring collar to the inside of the preload nut.
  3. Spring rate in Lbs. - Spring rate refers to the stiffness of the spring and will vary due to rider weight, riding style/discipline, Leverage ratio of the bike, and suspension design. As a general rule you are trying to achieve the correct amount of sag. Sag is the amount your suspension travels when you're sitting on your seat, feet on your pedals and hands on the bars. This should be around 1/3 of the total travel on a DH bike and 1/4 of the total travel on an XC All mountain bike (This can vary due to suspension design and personal preference)

Once you have established the answer to 1,2,3 you need to choose your spring using the following rules.

  1. Spring Stroke should be Equal to or Greater than Stroke of the shock
  2. Spring Length should be less than the Max Free length of the shock (This is so the spring physically fits)
  3. Spring Rate should be correct to suit your body weight, bike and riding style

Example: If your stroke is 2.8", your rate is 450Lbs and your max free length is 165mm. You need - 3" x 450Lbs x 162mm i.e - If you dont see a spring that has the exact stroke of your shock you can use a spring with a longer stroke, as long as the free length will fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good I wouldnt be ever changing this little gem if it wasnt too soft for me! now im buying exact same one only a bit stiffer!! 26 June 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great spring and lightweight ! 08 March 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good without being great I like the way this works, although I had to fashion a rubber sleeve to make sure it stays in place properly (on a Fox DHX 5.0). It's great value for a titanium spring, but it would be better if it came in more size options, and fitted the Fox shox perfectly. It did perform well, and was lighter than the stock steel spring - although this was marginal because I had to replace a 2.75 spring with a 3.0 (no 2.75 option for the weight with nuke proof). 19 April 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by really plush i bought this for my sc bullit and fitted it to dhx-5. I mainly ride allmountain/freeride and some downhill. Awsome spring so much better than original fox spring, works great for every aplication.. 08 April 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by best spring i bought this one 9 months ago for my banshee wildcard (2.25" x 600 Lbs x 130mm) and it was best buy. now the rear suspension is super plush. i can only recommend this. and it also looks cool :) 08 April 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by value for money Ok...its 150 grams less than a steel spring but thats not about it ,its superb quality for a relatively low price and this i call value for money. I have owned an RCS { Renton coil Spring } before made in usa etc and honestly there was no difference in quality of ride and traction, once its all about the ride and the way that titanium reacts on dirt or rocks... Taiwan this time wins. Plush ,looking good and effective...u only have to know the exact spring rate you need. 08 April 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by dionisis from greece... I have a giant glory 0 with a 8,75x2,75 fox dhx 5 and of corse the problem was that nuke proof range has only a 3" stroke spring for me.They say that if it fits in length there is no problem and thats your number... So i took the 500x3 and here is the truth: This spring is much longer and bigger in diameter than the stock fox and of corse it looks much better as the whole shock now looks bigger.. But when you put both springs in the scale you will see that the titanium one is only 40grams lighter for 190 euros!!!! This happens because what you gain from the light material you loose from the bigger size and it s very logical... so the conclusion is that for this specific size of shock stroke you have to look in another brand, if you have bigger shock it s an excellent choice! Except if you want it only for the "pro" look......!!!!!!!! 14 January 2010

Answer:
This Titanium spring runs a 36mm internal diameter so is too small for the RockShox Vivid shock. You need a Vivid specific, 38mm inner diameter spring

Quiero saber la anchura total del muelle

Algunos mulles de ti son más anchos que los de acero y rozan con el cuadro.
Proporcionáis la longitud pero no la anchura.
