Rated 4 out of 5 by 03 February 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good lock, awful support I owned one of these locks for about 8 years until the mechanism jammed and my key snapped in it (luckily my bike was unlocked just before). After about a year of owning it, the retention mechanism broke, meaning I had to carry it in my bag for the remaining 7 years. I still had no quibbles with this however, the lock lasted a long time and served it's purpose....until...... I bought a replacement lock for my new bike only 6 days ago, no offroad riding was done with it, and I used the handy velcro strap to take the weight off the retention clip. I arrived at work yesterday to discover my lock was gone! One half of the retention mechanism was also missing (like my previous one) which clearly indicates that the retention mechanism is not fit for purpose and the lock simply fell off along with part of the clip. Of course, returning this to the local store will be no fun as although I have receipts and all the keys, there's no lock! It could be anywhere within my 10-mile journey! I emailed Oxford 2 days ago to see if they would honour the fact it's not fit for purpose - no reply yet......make up your own minds 24 November 2010
Rated 3 out of 5 by mwahahaha my mum bought me this lock from a charity shop for £2.99! haha what a bargain! also whilst locked up outside my student residence in Cardiff city centre, someone took a hacksaw to it in two places and had no luck breaking it im still using it to this day, i think the hacksaw marks prove to people that they wont take my bike! 02 June 2009
Rated 1 out of 5 by Would not buy it again I used the lock twice - the second time I used it, unfortunately it got cut in two and my bike was stolen. Considering that I left my bike only for two hours, in a well-lit place in front of shops and restaurants with Security patrolling up and down (but not noticing anything), I suspect cutting the lock didn't take more than a few seconds. 05 January 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Using this lock for years now, no complaints yet. In my experience a lock only ever gets one major complaint in its lifetime anyway, and they`ve always been overshadowed by my lack of bike.. 5 stars for the money, and would take a bit of commitment to break but I`m sure with a big enough lever it could be done. In Dublin they like to spin the bike around as a lever to break the locks. The lock has seized a few times but thats not surprising the amount of rain its sat out in, just squirt some wd40 into the keyhole and give the key a few twists and its usually good for a few more months. 18 November 2008
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but not invincible For the last seven years I've left my bike in various dodgy areas of Nottingham secured only by this lock. In all that time no-one has tried to break it (or if they have, they didn't leave a mark). Until last night that is. By the time the thieves had broken the lock (presumably using a crowbar) the bike was a write-off, with the rear wheel and the chain rings buckled and broken. So these locks can be bested, but it takes a serious amount of effort. I might even buy another one. But I'll never leave my bike in Sneinton again. 03 July 2008
Rated 2 out of 5 by No match for bolt cutters! Title explains all. Bye bye Norco. :( 24 May 2008
Rated 4 out of 5 by One of its draw backs ironically is that it is damn hard to open, i spend a couple minutes a day just trying to get the catch to open. However its practical and does the job. Would be nice if it was a little longer. 22 November 2007
