Although I've only used these panniers for around a week here are my observations so far. Hopefully this will have some use to others.
Fuller details on the cons are:
Plastic hooks are used to attach the panniers to the rack. These work fairly well inasmuch as they are solid and don't come off easily. And there's the rub, to remove them, each plastic hook has to be prised open via a process of poking a finger underneath the rack to get to each one. I don't really want to start customising these panniers while they're sill so new but I think I'll be forced to swap the hooks for ones off my old Alturas, which have a quick release button on top - much easier to use.
For clarification around water-proofing, these panniers come with a zipped pocket in the base which contains a bright yellow water-proof cover, attached to the pannier via a strap (useful). The cover also has a reflective strip at the rear - another good feature. So if you want your panniers to be waterproof without having to stop during a quick shower to whip the covers out, best to continue your browsing. I acknowledge this isn't much of a con and may not matter to most. It didn't stop me returning them!
