Rated 4 out of 5 by jonno000 Great tyre, good all rounder
Use this tyre on the rear of my hard tail, works pretty well under most circumstances. The width of the tyre will depend to some extent on your rims, for me the 2.1" width ends up being a bit narrow so wouldn't use it on the front. The previous two sets of these tyres I've used have failed by one of the "nobbles" tearing off, leaving the inner tube exposed, not sure if this is a common failure mode or not, but can be annoying out on the trails!

I started MTB BITD, mid 90's and always used Smoke's on the back and Tioga Psycho's on the front. I've tried lots of different tyres and Smokes or Fire Xc's can't be beaten. Excellent grip pattern which gives loads of grip in loose gravel, roots, fast rolling, clears mud easily and has strong side walls. Sounds to me like the best all rounder, can you think of a tyre that does all that lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tsuru My go-to budget tire
I love these tires as budget all-around tires. Low enough rolling resistance considering the size of the knobs, they shed mud, ice and snow well.
Can you get lighter/lower resistance/better traction tires for more money? Yes but at this price I don't think the premium is worth it unless you need something for a specific purpose.

Good level of grip in most conditions and clears the mud well. Also has a reasonable life span for the average rider.

I have been using these tyres on the rear for years now and given the cost vs quality i rate them very highly. I find they provide great grip on dry ground but also are pretty good in the wet and mud, which sheds pretty well considering this isn't a mud tyre.
Wear is reasonable considering i usually incorporate short tarmac sections in my rides but they do squirm around a little on roads when new. Most knobbly tyres will do this though.
