Many derailleur chains use a “master link” that allows the chain to be installed and removed by hand. While this type of masterlink doesn't require a traditional chain tool, over time, dirt and corrosion can make it difficult to separate by hand. MLP-1 Master Link Pliers make removal and replacement of these masterlinks quick and effortless. Simply insert the specially sized jaws into the masterlink and squeeze the handles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Value and Product Great for getting the links off, but a bit fiddly getting them back together. This me be more my experience or lack of it than the tool. Far cheaper than buying 2 tools to open and close the links. 18 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Funcciona bien Facil de usar rapido una herramienta que hay que tenerlo 10 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works well Makes breaking the chain quick and easy. Well worth the money. 02 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wish that I had bought one sooner No more struggling to split your chain link with this - great Park quality makes short work of those stiff chain split links. 01 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quick and easy Masterlinks in your chain are easy to push together and disconnect when they are nice and clean BUT if they are dirty or have a bit of grit/grime in them they can be a pain! These pliers make it quick and easy to disconnect your masterlinks no matter how dirty they are. 06 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more clicking your fingers to break your chain. Until you use this you will not know what a great product it is. Definitely needed for Sram chains and great to use with the reusable KMC link. This revised version adds the ability to stretch the link to close a chain as well as compress the link to break the chain. You can break and make a KMC chain without this tool, but it makes it a much easier, less stressful experience. Remember, the easier it is to break a chain the easier it is to thoroughly clean a chain and the longer the chain will last. Recommended. 28 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I mst have if using a powelink A must have if you use Sram Powerlinks. Makes getting stubborn master links off a breeze. Love this must have for the home mechanic 23 June 2014

Answer:
Absolutely. It's a great tool and a must have for Sram chains.

Personally, I prefer KMC as the link is reusable.

Answer:
This tool is capable of opening SRAM PowerLinks; however the SRAM 10-speed links are not designed to be reused and require being replaced with a new PowerLink after removal.
