Park Tool Spoke Tension Meter

The key to wheels that are strong and reliable is having spokes that are properly and uniformly tensioned. The Tension Meter accurately and reliably measures the absolute tension of each of the spokes in a wheel, as well as the relative tension between all the spokes in a wheel. Easy to use and priced affordably, it works on nearly any bicycle spoke-no matter what the diameter, material, or shape. Not just for the experienced mechanic, the TM is for anyone building or truing wheels, diagnosing wheel problems, or assembling new bikes.

The TM includes a spoke gauge for measure the diameter of the common spokes, and a tension conversion table for 16 different spokes, including titanium and carbon. It's a tool that belongs on every workbench. NOTE: The Spoke Tension Meter requires approximately 105mm (4 1/8-inch) of accessible spoke to read.

  • Tight and uniform spoke tension if the key to a strong and long lasting wheel, and this innovative design takes the guess work out of achieving that perfect spoke tension
  • Fits almost any size, shape or material spoke
  • Gives you a measure of the relative and absolute spoke tensions within a wheel
  • Clear and easy to read gauge

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Tool For years I've checked and tightened spokes by feel alone. It was reassuring to find that all three of my bikes were within plus/minus 2. I can now get them closer! 11 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Useful Tool to do your own truing Started my first wheelbuilding project, and using very light rims, I wanted to make sure I didn't over tighten the spokes. The PT spoke tension meter helps to do just that, and also, in already built wheels, it helps detecting weak links in the team. You can also do it by hand and "feel", but a plain old number on a scale makes it so much easier!! Expensive, though. 22 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent for the hobbist Most of us don't need absolute precision, but an everyday tool to help us. This tension meter will do the job fine. It is accurate enough to help you build a wheel or check the spoke tension. Very happy with it. 27 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wheel building Helps build well tensioned wheels at a good price and it will last as long as I will need it 01 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use, essential to have Very easy to use, seems to be accurate at least in relative readings, cannot verify absolute values. Using the conversion table is no trouble at all, because in practice you look up the couple of values you need for a wheel and then start measuring. I would not build wheels without a tension meter. The price and quality of this Park Tool Meter is just right for a casual home wheel builder. 14 December 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Consigliato!!! Continuavo a rompere raggi su una ruota centrata più volte.... comprato questo ottimo prodotto, ho ritensionato per bene tutti i raggi e la ruota come per magia è tornata come nuova! 02 November 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Good staff I’ve got this tension meter several months ago and very glad to have it. TM-1 costs like good rim and allows properly adjusting many of them. I am not a fan of tightening spokes up to nipple sides spoiling. For example Mavic rims which I was using, require 70-90kg tension. It’s far from possible! Reachable price and good quality of this unit gave me chance to build several new wheels and true existing ones. By the way tension numbers in different parts of the spoke is different also. Be sure measurement accuracy more than enough. By using TM-1 I’ve noticed that spoke tension in the wheel assembled with doubled rim much depends from tire pressure and of cause need to take into account of it. No doubt using this unit will allow having durable and strong wheels and exclude funny complains about rims quality in case not correct assembled wheels! 09 December 2012
