Do you just LOVE degreasing your chain and drivetrain? We didn't think so. However, degreasing your chain and drivetrain is an important part of maintaining your bicycle to ensure good shifting, efficient pedaling, and long life out of your investment. Unfortunately, as you know, it can be a unpleasant, time consuming activity, full of nasty chemicals and wasted degreaser. To solve this problem, Pedro's developed a better solution. Pro J is a professional grade biodegradable degreaser that cuts through the toughest grease, grime, road tar, and dirt with ease. Pro J's proprietary high viscosity, citrus-based formulation visibly coats drivetrain parts and stays where you need it most. The concentrated power requires less scrubbing and wastes less degreaser and the water soluble formula quickly rinses away with water leaving a spotless drivetrain. We think you'll love it!
Our favorite way to use Pro J is to apply it to the entire drivetrain while it is still dry. Pour the Pro J onto the bristles of a small brush like the Pedro's Toothbrush and then use the brush and a light scrubbing action to coat all the parts. The opaque color tells you exactly where the degreaser has been applied and the high viscosity keeps it there. Sit back a relax for a few minutes while your friends scrub away at their bikes. In 15 minutes or so, rinse off your parts uncovering beautiful, gleaming, clean aluminum and steel.
Proprietary viscous formula visibly coats parts for less waste and scrubbing
Professional grade high concentration formulation
Biodegradable, water soluble formula easily rinses away
Always shake well before use.
Apply to chain, cassette, and chainrings using a brush and light scrubbing motion and let sit for 5-15 minutes.
Though not generally necessary, very dirty parts may require additional scrubbing with brush.
Rinse well with water using low to medium pressure. Let fully dry before applying lubricant.

I've used other degreaser/bike wash products before, which were essentially strong detergents. I rinsed the drivetrain, sprayed on the degreaser and scrubbed with a brush. Thats how you use those kinds of degreaser (they are surfactant based, helping the grease off by lowering the surface tension and allowing the detergent to pull the grease off), but not how you use this this Pedros stuff.
Pedros is viscous like engine oil but smells of citrus and it is solvent based. It works by breaking down the grease on your chain. Apply it to a greasy chain, dirty rings or oily cassettes WITHOUT rinsing with water first. You want the grime to experience the full force of the solvent, not some watered-down limp-wristed version. (I put some in a bottle that has a small pourer to get it where I want it because you don't need much). Since it's white and thick, you can easily see where/how much is on the chain or around the chainrings and use a stiff brush to get it anywhere that isn't covered.
Once it has been applied, leave it about 10 mins to do it's stuff. The solvent reacts with the greasy mess and turns it into a slimy kind of gel - this Breaking Bad type sorcery needs time not a chemistry degree.
After 10 minutes or so you can spray off the slimy gel with a hose or have at it with a brush and a bucket of soapy water (dish soap is what you want). Want your chain looking spanking new? Just back pedal it through a soapy sponge. What was previously stubbornly caked on now simply washes away thanks to science and what not.
I don't know how this stuff is bio-degradable because it is crazy strong. The solvent turns a nasty chain into something you can run a clean hand over, the grease is totally gone. Honestly, this method does a better job than the chain cleaner device and degreaser I got from Finish Line.
Takes more time than other products, but most of the heavy lifting is done by the product. I'd go 4.5 stars if I could.

I was a little disappointed with this degreaser. Having bought the Park Tools chain cyclone and used their included degreaser this one doesn't match it, or really come close. The product smells nice and is good and thick but struggles to shift grease with any particular ease or efficiency. Even after running my chains through it a couple of times the chain still doesn't come up clean, shiny & grime free. Would I recommend this, probably? Not really. Personally I'd go elsewhere for a degreaser.

Does not clean grease from components - product consists of a thick white emulsion which in itself is quite hard to remove - best avoided.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous Good amount of degreaser for the price, though there are cheaper alternatives. Works well, but perhaps not the ideal thing for degreasing chains as it is quite thick and wont penetrate into tiny gaps. For chains the Pedros Orange Peel or something similar would be a good bet. The park chainbrite stuff is good but very overpriced.
