Pro-Lite Gavia Super Light Wheelset

From 2008, Pro Lite has decided to expand our Gavia wheelset range. Each Gavia wheelset is equipped with our patented "Bolzano" hub. The Pro-Lite Bolzano hub is designed to provide maximum power to output ratios, whilst offering superior wheel stability and structure. When coupled with the unique Pro-Lite spoke made from Swedish Stainless Steel, you have a combination that is everything the rider needs. During tests using several Pro riders, we used a power meter set at 300 watts of power over 50km and the results were amazing. The result was an average faster time over 50km of 89.2 seconds. What were also consistent were the comments riders made after each test. The phrase “those wheels are really fast” was repeated many times. It became evident that lighter wheels flex far too much under maximum load by the rider, showing that weight saving does have its disadvantages. An overly light wheel can cause the rider to waste power. A Pro-Lite wheel allows the rider to actually go faster using the same amount of power. In plain English, the power transfer on a Pro-Lite wheel is the key to keeping you ahead of the rest.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Need a better balance between performance and quality. Performance wise they are great, lightweight roll well and a super stiff. Only owened these wheels for a couple of months and around 500km before a spoke failed towards the end of a ride. So much for the advertised strongest spokes on the market. This is inexcusable for a new set of wheels and I am now $500 out of pocket. It may have been a faulty build, it appeared on closer inspection the spokes weren't entering the nipples straight and the wheel wasn't wholly round. Spare spokes come with the wheels which is great but not much good when you're out on the road. I also have a set of fulcrum 5's that only had one spoke fail after around 25000km on them, at only $270, they really got their moneys worth. IMO Pro-lite need to redesign the hub to allow spokes for a straigter alignment with the center of the wheel and therefore reducing lateral load at the nipples. The hub and wheel is a great concept it just needs better execution. These wheels could rock with some improved design engineering. 03 May 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Didn't need to worry I had initial concerns about the hub fitting so emailed CRC. They told me that they should fit no problem as long as I did not have those wavy pinarello forks, and they were correct, fit with plenty of room. Came with 8 spare spokes and nipples that equally alleviated the fear of breaking on and not being able to source spares. A really light, stiff alloy wheel at a great price. 01 October 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cracking Wheels... Brilliant wheels, massive difference noticed straight away. only thing is the front wheel might not fit some forks. didnt fit mine without a little bit of filing on the forks.but these really are good wheels for the money. 19 August 2012

The Gavia wheels run the Bolzano hub so you should be able to replace the freehub body, yes. We no longer stock these unfortunately, but your local Pro Lite dealer may be able to order one in for you.
