I love the idea of getting a Dropper Seat post for my Lapierre 720 DH bike, but not sure one is available for my bike's requirements...

My current post dimensions are: 31.6x250, which is a very short post.

Can you give me any advice on this?

Answer:
The Da Bomb (350mm Total Length) post mentioned has a recommended insert of 170mm which fits the whole way to the collar which is perfect for your bike.

The Rock Shox Reverb is also another option to consider (355mm Total length has an insert of 190mm).

Answer:
The 380mm and 420mm are in relation to the overall length of the seatpost; it is advised to compare this to the length of your current seatpost for an accurate selection.

Answer:
If there is enough room in the frame seat tube for an additional 5mm of seatpost insertion then the 350mm seat post will be a viable option. It would be advised to measure the seat tube on the frame before committing to a seat post size.

In regards to the seatpost clamp size; a 31.8mm Clamp is required.

Answer:
The Thomson Elite seatpost is only available in a 30.9mm or 31.6mm diameter, both of which will be too large for your 30mm seat tube. You could opt for a 27.2mm dropper seatpost and use a shim to connect it to your 30mm seat tube.

Hello

Was wondering how simple it would be to trim the length of a carbon seat post.

Is it even recommended ?

If so what type of saw should I be using.

Thank you in advance

Answer:
Yes this is completely fine, it is recomended to use a hack saw with a Carbon Blade and it is a fairly simple procedure.

As always when shortening seatposts, steerers etc... Measure Twice Cut Once; this way no mistakes can be made.

Not being a Boardman dealer I have no way of double checking the seatpost size on the SLS 9.8 for you, but I would imagine it will be a 27.2mm; you should contact your local Boardman dealer as they will be able to confirm for you.

Answer:
The “Offset” of a seatpost is how far the central point of the rail attachments sit from the actual central point of the seatpost. A “Zero Offset” seatpost will have the rail attachment directly over the central point of the seatpost whereas a “20mm Offset” model will have the rail attachment sitting 20mm further back from the central point of the seatpotst.
