I have a Trek Marlin 7 with SR Suntour XCT, w/ 51mm offset on 29ers,and 100mm travel. I want to upgrade to maybe RockShox Sektor Gold RL Solo Air Forks - 15mm. Is this fork compatible? If not which forks in the price range of the Sektor Gold are compatible? Thanks.

Answer:
The trek marlin 7 is equipped with 9mm quick release axles front and rear so you will have to get a new front wheel with a 15mm axle hub to fit this fork which can be purchased at crc in the custom wheel builder under wheelsets, this would cost around 200$ for a new wheel that will fit a 15mm axle fork also the marlin 7 has a 1.1/8th (not tapered) inch steerer tube so you will have to get a fork with the same specifications, also the sektor gold rl does not come in 100mm travel which is what you require, simply put if your suspension travel is more or less then what it came out of the factory the bike will not sit right and lean forward or backward. So if you choose to also purchase a wheel with a 15mm axle for around 200$ at the custom wheel builder you would have to add that onto your budget or buy a fork with 9mm quick releases that will fit straight onto your bike with stock wheels. I will attach some forks with 9mm quick release and 1.1/8th steerer which are all air sprung forks as well as forks with 15mm thru axle which are usually more expensive and the custom wheel builder, good luck! Make sure u get 1.1/8th inch NOT 1.1/8th inch tapered.

Answer:
Generally on all air forks like the dj3's there is a black or colured cap on the right side on the top of your fork which can be removed where the air preload valve is located to put air into your fork you need a shock pump which can be purhcased here at crc, simply screw on the metal end of the shock pump to your fork and start pumping too your wanted psi!

Which forks?

Warning, clueless newbie post...

Recently bought a Commencal Super 4 (2010) frame, it's currently riding with DT Swiss XRC 100 Forks but I want more travel. What fork would be suitable? Cheers

Answer:
You need to match the fork travel to the rear travel. If it's 100mm on the rear, I wouldn't go with any more travel as it will affect your geometry and the bike will ride weird.

Answer:
Yo yo yo Andy, you'll need to check your frame can take forks over 100mm you will find more travel will affect the geometry and may damage the frame, 100mm will probably suit best more travel doesn't necessarily mean better

Answer:
I think 130mm is a bit to much on that bike as it will raise your front with 30mm or more.
A 120mm RS Reba might work, a to c at 493mm (I believe) opposed to the a/c 479 you have now. Not knowing the details about that bike but you also must find out what kind of steerer you need (I guess 1 1/8) and what axle type you need ( my guess is 9mm)
If you want to upgrade and fork out for a new wheel at the same time you can go for a 15mm axle of course..

Answer:
You'd be better off with a new bike with pre-specced forks dude. You will probably struggle to find anything to fit, even if you do, you'r bike may not take the added forces.
