Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfortable It's very comfortable. Barely realised i had them on while riding. Doesn't restrict movement while standing. Haven't had a decent crash to know if this works well though. For the sizing i thought of going for the M but it was out of stock. So, i decided to go with L and i'm glad i did. Fits me perfectly. A must buy! 07 November 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by RE: Saved my Knees - big time First Gravity Enduro race last week end and I thought I would get some protection for the pins. Tested them out a couple of time before the race, and they are surprisingly comfortable, don't slip too much and you don't really even notice you are wearing them. Race day: crashed out big time down a 3 metre drop off - didn't think much of it - but after the section stopped and notice a massive rip in the guard - which would have been my knee if it wasn't for the pad. So, work very well, bit gutted they have a rip in them though after one fall 06 October 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Surprisingly good for the money Must admit I ordered these pads by mistake as I wanted a different set but clicked the wrong item and didn't check thoroughly before confirming the order. That said though I was happy with the fit after a days use recently at Bikepark Wales. They provide the necessary support and protection (I did come off on a slippery slate section) and are more than comfortable to keep on all day. I'll still get around to ordering the set I really wanted but these are definitely a good pair to have as well. 30 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saved my knee from a side imact I followed the sizing guide on the RF site, and since I fell between sizes (L and XL) I went for the L and at first it was a pain to put them on, but I guess that's because I have really big calves, and the lower strap was a pain to pull over, but when on it is super snug. I use them from AM to DH riding, and the fit is great. After wearing them for 2-3 months the fabric went loose and now it fits perfectly. And now for the main part, 4 weeks ago I took a nasty spill and went over the bars, landed on my side. After picking up and seeing the damage (stabbed myself with my elbow in the ribs and landed on my shoulder) I noticed that I took a major impact to the side of the knee cap, which would be a big problem, since I had trouble with that knee before. I didn't feel a thing, I really didn't notice anything until I saw the pads. I've also used them on a AM ride (20 km) down a mountain and didn't notice them at all, then don't impede pedaling ability at all. So a warm recommendation for anybody who want's to get them, if you are between sizes go for a smaller, it will loosen up in a month time. And of course 5 stars. 10 May 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by finally, a pair that fit AND stay up!! I`d almost given up hope of finding a pair of kneepads that I could get on with, but I gave these a go because they were in the sale. I`m so glad I did, theyre miles better than anything I`ve tried before. They stay put brilliantly, they weigh next to nothing, they don`t rub, they`re well ventilated, they even look good. Can`t reccommend these highly enough. 03 April 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by own a pair of these and like them, they are my first pair so nothing to compare them to,they fit well but you will notice you are wearing them 06 March 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great set of pads! Lighter than a small pair of Kyle Straits the dig's wrap snugly around my knees and feel very secure. The shin is more exposed but I'm clipped in most of the time so it's not too much of big deal. The side panels do bunch up but I feel no irritation, it's more of a style thing if you find it "looks" annoying. I prefer a closed back to knee gussets which is what the Dig is and have tried the Kyber's open back. The open back is very irritating and takes several rides to stretch out the velcro and it still chaffs like hell! I have yet to crash with these, hence I think they'll take a beating. 06 June 2012

Answer:
These guards are 'full sock' style guards; which can be opened to fit; but are not open backed once wearing.
