Renthal Strata Duo MTB Stem

Borrowing technology from our championship winning motocross technologies, we have designed and developed this stem to offer the ultimate combination of lightness, strength and durability. Renthal Strata Stems are designed to let you ride faster, jump further and last longer.

Renthal’s revolutionary Strata™ stem combines high strength with ultra low weight. The stem is horizontally divided down the centre which allows it to be CNC machined in two pieces. This method allows unrestricted access to the core of the stem which enables weight to be reduced to the absolute minimum without compromising strength.

In addition this provides an uninterrupted U shape clamping area, which eliminates the stress risers found on most other clamps which can lead to handlebar failure.

Renthal Strata Duo MTB Stem Features:

  • CNC Machined from 6082 T6 aluminium alloy.
  • Split stem design for maximum weight reduction.
  • U shape clamping area, eliminates traditional stress risers for the handlebar.
  • 139g (including bolts).
  • 31.8mm handlebar diameter.
  • 50mm offset/10° rise.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by easy to install for awesome rides! really easy to install, it is simply gorgeouse fitted with the renthall fat bar! 17 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Light, durable finish, follow the instructions eh! Before you fit this stem, RTFM, it needs to be torqued up in the correct order, do so and it's flawless. With a Carbon Fatbar it's a match made in heaven and I trimmed nearly 400gms off my front end. A perfect product, strong enough for charging DH, just don't expect it to survive unscathed from multiple bicycle cartwheels at warp speed, it's built to ride not crash. 14 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A really inovative design and stiff and lightweight I've had a duo stem 70mm for a few years now on a trek remedy 8 2012. It is lighter than traditional looking stems and just as stiff, if not more. It still looks great on the bike with none of the graphics lost. The biggest problem is during fitting. It is horrible to fit as the handlebar moves around and falls out. I did damage a bar because when it was tightened the bar moved the wrong was and when I forced it into the right position it scratched the paint off. I have fitted it twice and it was just as hard the second time. Luckily it is a fit and forget item, you won't be changing it round often. It the best stem I have tried but the price is high. 01 March 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Expensive, low strength stem Had nothing but issues with this stem. Would constantly creak which drove me crazy. Eventually had to tighten the bolts a touch more then recommended which ultimately cracked the stem around one of the front screws in front of the bar. There are better less expensive options out there. 21 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Only had one local ride to puddletown using it, but had put it through all different terrain and it suits me down to a T! Beautiful machinery! 14 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super stiff Installation straight forward and easy. Before buying this stem, I purchased an inexpensive short stem, just to try if it was something for me. I was hoping to actually feel a difference on my first ride with this stem - AND I DID! It was like I had another much stiffer frame on the bike, so the increased stiffness can definitely be felt. I recommend this product. I found a very good spot to install my Garmin Edge as well. 14 December 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by TOP GEAR Mine went on fine and has been fit and forget- real quality item. 29 August 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by nice stem but a bit fiddly to fit i bought this stem to go with my Renthal FatBar Riser Bar and it looks great but it is taking some getting us to.My bike use to have a 90mm stem on and this being shorter makes the bike feel completly diffrent.I'd give it 5 stars for looks,5 stars for the weight, but am giving it 4 stars overall as it seamed a bit fiddly to fit, their is 2 bolts on the bottom of the clamp, the instructions says fit your bars, screw them 2 bolts in,then the top 2 bolts, then the stem bolts,i had to do mine 3 times, even with grease applied to the bolt heads they still binded up so the bars still could move, the only way i cured this was to put a little washer on the bolts, works fine now. 29 June 2013

Answer:
10 degree rise is the standard on this stem; as far as I know there isn't a 'without the 10-deg rise' option. It's a fab stem tho, brilliantly engineered & highly recommended, even if it's expensive!

Answer:
Having just fitted one of these stems to a bike I'm currently building, I cam confirm that the height of the clamp stack is indeed 40mm. This stem itself is a very nice piece of engineering but the bolts supplied should be of better quality as standard. But it's a minor gripe, they do the job and can easily be upgraded.

Answer:
This stem has a 40mm stack height so would require a minimum of 40mm free steerer protruding from the frame headtube.
